  1. Has the internet ruined fantasy football?

I think that it has been the most helpful resource in the growth of FF. However I think that it has also contributed to me burning out on FF also. The overload of info/daily hot new flashes/speculation has been a bit much for me. You really have to devote an extreme amount of time to stay on top of things. This is the first offseason since about 1999 that I've been pretty apathetic about FF. This will also be the 3rd consecutive year that I am cutting down on the amount of leagues that I am in. Not to be the old veteran being cynical about everything because for the people new to FF it's still fresh and exciting so enjoy it. But I don't think I will be getting excited about football or FF until around preseason is about over and the real games start..........

Stop talking about Lamont Jordan! He will be garbage this season..........
  9. So it's Vick's fault Price sucks?

I think everyone is missing the point is that Waterman stated it's not Vicks fault that Price sucks. When your #1 (not #2 or #3 WR Swerski) is not capable of beating man coverage or double teams it affects the production of the offense. Price has evidently shown that he might not be a great or even average WR. Now with Jenkins possibly taking his job we'll see. I think this year Vick should improve more in the passing game and if he doesn't then he should get more criticism. But to expect Vick to be Steve Young after 1 year in the system is dumb. No other words for it. The offensive line is average at best. When people say they had a potent rushing attack why don't you take out Vicks rushing totals and see how potent that attack really was. A 1/3 of their rushing totals was Vick taking off on bootlegs or busted plays not exactly indicative of a top notch O-line. Also I see that a inordianate amount of Packer fans are haters of Vick. I wonder if it's because of that playoff victory in Lambeau. I can't think of one other team that appears to have more members challenging his abilities................
  10. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

Sure wasn't Vick and isn't that who we're talking about?.............:clever gremlin here:
  11. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

I guess I'm looking at the question differently because I thought broncosn05 asked who he wanted to build a franchise around. Now how many successful startup franchises started with a QB recently? Lets go with Cleveland, Baltimore, Houston, Carolina and Jacksonville Carolina went with Kerry Collins Cleveland had Tim Couch Baltimore had Vinny Testeverde Houston started with David Carr Jacksonville went with Mark Brunell Now if you just look at the question and not get blinded by Vicks athleticism/below par QB ability and Brady's 3 Super Bowls and playoff cool I think you can make a more rational decision. All of the teams that went with franchise type QB's ie Carolina, Cleveland, Houston and Jax picked QB's who had pretty much the same type talent as Tom Brady. Some had early success, some didn't but it didn't last and only David Carr is still with his original team because they went in another direction to build their team. You can't build a team with an average QB with great intangibles. Look at Baltimore they went with defense and won a Super Bowl with a journeyman QB. As Msaint said it took some other players to make Terry Bradshaw, John Elway, Troy Aikman winners. When you take a QB with your first pick to build a franchise you need someone who can make others better. Brady will need competent WR's, a decent O-line and a solid running game to go along with a solid defense to get his team into the playoff's. Vick will need an avg running game and solid defense to get into the playoff's. These have been shown in the performances. It has been said that Brady didn't lead the Patriots to the playoff's in 2002 because lack of a running game and a poor defensive performance that year. Vick has made it to the playoff's in each year as a full time starter. I don't think people are understanding that starting a franchise you will be talent deficient in comparison to the rest of the league. When you start a franchise you can't build on intangibles, it doesn't work that way..........
  12. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

I don't think people can separate Brady from the Patriots so it's an unfair question anyway. If Brady was such a good prospect he wouldn't have lasted until the sixth round and been Drew Bledsoes backup. Vick was touted as the #1 pick by all 32 NFL GM's (if their team needed a QB) but I guess Huddlers here know better than people who are paid to make these types of decisions..............
  13. My point is he isn't an afterthought in the passing game. I think some people don't realize what afterthought means.......... And what does "As you do" mean?............
  14. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

Ha ha good one. And you can add Dan Fouts, Fran Tarkenton, Peyton Manning, etc etc etc.........
  15. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

People who say they don't want Vick are not looking at his ability to lead a team. You can talk about his passing deficiencies or his athletic ability but the bottom line is winning. This is about if you are a winner or not. In his 2 full seasons as the Falcons starting QB (2002 and 2004) the Falcons are 20-11-1. Both times they made the playoff's. After the Falcons Super Bowl year in 98 until 2002 their record was 16-32. The year that Vick was hurt the Falcons went 5-11 with 3 of those wins coming when Vick came back at the end of the year. The next year the Falcons are 11-5. Must be coincidence. He has taken the Falcons to the playoff's and the NFC championship game. He's already shown more potential than many of the other #1 QB's picks like Tim Couch, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, David Carr. Whether everyone agree's or not his name is mentioned as a MVP canidate and one of the best players in the game. But you know I really don't think there will be any debate as his career goes along. He's going to keep winning and I think he has a very good chance to win a Super Bowl. When you win you can brush the haters off anyway..........
  16. You always seem to care so much about what I have to say. In fact you actually confirmed what I'm saying. I never said that Edge was anything more than a checkdown back. That pretty much is what he is in the passing game. But I am saying that as the checkdown back he has been pretty important because they "checkdowned" to him 51 times. If your QB looks downfield and everyone is covered I guess it's just an afterthought when he checks down and dumps it off to Edge. Manning is just sitting back there like, "Hmmmmmm I could run for 10 yards or I could go to my afterthought and get 9.5 yards. What to do, what to do. Oh well I think I'll take off running because my 3 primary targets are covered and I can't remember what my afterthought option is."..............
  17. Whose career would you rather have?

I think it's an easy call. What does everyone say, Records are made to be broken. We always think a record will stand the test of time but someone eventually sets a new standard. After your record is gone what do you have? But championships? They live on forever and people will worship you forever when you win a championship. If you're in to all that............
  18. The worst QB to ever win a Super Bowl...

I must not understand the criteria from some of these replies. Trent Dilfer has been nothing but a journeyman QB his entire career. He's never been asked to do nothing more than not fk things up. Some of these other guys have been thought of as actually quality QB's and a solution at the position........
  19. Who would you want Vick or Brady?

If I'm an expansion team and am building a team then I want Vick hands down. I would probably take Culpepper or P.Manning over Brady too. But if I have an established identity to my team and want possibly the final to piece to the puzzle ie QB to lead team to Super Bowl Brady would get high consideration. His skills are easier to integrate into an established team, wouldn't have to reformat the entire offense...........
  20. He never caught more than 63 balls in any year what makes you think he would catch 85 I don't know. You said his catches are an afterthought. I don't think any play that gains yardage is an afterthought. Maybe you had a poor choice of words or probably an exaggeration on your part. I can't think of one offense that gears it's passing game around it's RB. The last one that was the primary target downfield was Faulk. Why you want to bring up 2002 or 2003 his years when he was recovering from the ACL injury has no relevance to now. Is what Peyton Manning did 2 years ago relevant to what he did last year? No. Edge avg'd the most yards per reception of his career last year. He's getting back to his old form. You should be done arguing this point. You already backtracked enough..........
  21. If all your other passing options are covered and you check down to the open man, that makes that open man pretty d@mn important and not an afterthought. ESPECIALLY in the Colts offense where Peyton can't scramble to save his life and he really needs to hit that open man to move the chains. So where you think that a checkdown is an afterthought, I think that a QB who checks down to the open man and gains crucial yardage as a critical component of the gameplan..........
  22. I don't agree with that analysis that if you aren't the primary option in a passing play that you are an afterthought. Especially in the Colts offense. Who really knows what Manning is doing out there and who is the primary target. How many times was Stokley the primary target? Are you gonna say that the Colts 3rd WR was the primary target for his 10 TD's? Not likely. I don't know if you saw this but I said Edge avg'd 9.5 yards per reception. As a RB that was pretty d@mn good. I think only a few other RB's avg'd better; Warrick Dunn avg'd 10.1, Brian Westbrook avg'd 9.6, Onterrio Smith avg'd 10.9 and Tiki Barber avg'd 11.1. I don't see any other RB's with higher avg per rec's than that. I also don't get what you are saying that they don't pass to Edge over 10+ yards? Yes when he was a rookie and his second year they ran those out and up plays for him. But as you have stated yourself they didn't have anyone else to throw to then. They have 3 WR's over a 1,000 yards why would they send Edge on a deep out play? To clear out the underneath area for Wayne and Harrison? 51 rec's is 51 rec's, that's top 5 production in the league what does it take for it to not be an afterthought..............
  23. I don't think Edge is padding Manning's numbers. I just don't think he is an afterthought in the Colts passing game. What is padding Manning's number's is the Colts gameplan. Is one player better than another because they get more opportunities to show off their ability? No I don't think so. I think OJ Simpson had the best single rushing season of all time when he rushed for over 2,000 yards in 14 games. To me that means Jamal Lewis is not on equal footing because it took him 387 attempts to get 2066 yards when it took OJ 332 attempts to get 2003 yards. A lot of players would put up obscene numbers if an offense was geared to showcase their skills. However the majority of teams try to maintain a balanced offense between running and passing the ball/strong offense and a strong defense. Some teams that's not as high a priority so they skew the numbers............
  24. Top receiving RB's in 04 Curtis Martin 41 rec's 245 yards Edgerrin James 51 rec's 483 yards Tiki Barber 52 rec's 578 yards Ladanian Tomlinson 53 rec's 441 yards Domanick Davis 68 rec's 588 yards Ahman Green 40 rec's 275 yards Deuce McAllister 34 rec's 228 yards Warrick Dunn 29 rec's 294 yards Jerald Sowell 45 rec's 342 yards Nick Goings 45 rec's 394 yards Thomas Jones 56 rec's 427 yards Shawn Bryson 44 rec's 322 yards Fred Taylor 36 rec's 345 yards Onterrio Smith 36 rec's 394 yards Brian Westbrook 73 rec's 703 yards Michael Pittman 41 rec's 391 yards Edge was 6th amongst RB's in receptions and 4th in yards. Not too bad for being an after thought............
  25. Maybe it's just a mindset. It's nice as a fan to have something to brag about your team when they aren't winning in the playoff's. "See (insert players name) is the best and he has (insert achievement) so that's why he is the best right now and will be remembered as one of the best of all time." In 2002 Rich Gannon threw for almost 4,700 yards, was the starting Pro Bowl QB, leader in most of the passing categories and lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl. But had a terrible game when he got there. So what does everyone remember about that season? That Tampa Bays defense was one of the best of all time and the were the champs. No one remembers sh!t else about that season. People can make all the excuses they want about why certain players don't win playoff games or Super Bowls ie the weather, my defense sucks, we didn't have homefield advantage, my shoes were too tight, too much time off/not enough time off, the officials, no respect from the media, my breathe right strip was cockeyed, blah blah blah. In the end no one really cares. If you lost, you really weren't good enough to earn the win. If you are truly a special player or team you win that game. Period............
