Number three pick

Recommended Posts

Drew the 3 pick in a 12 team snake. LT goes first for sure, the number 2 pick is owned by a funky team, hard to predict who they will take.

If P.Manning is on the board at 3, can I take him and have my first RB come at pick number 22 and field a solid team? Our QB points are high due to 1pt for every 10 yds passing, I have tried to change to every 20/25 but have not had it pass. MANY QB's can score (not like PM) but can put up good numbers!!

So If Manning is one the board would you take him and not have a top 10 RB? If not, who would you take at 3:

Edge

Holmes

Alexander

McGahee

Other

:D

I've got the same choice to make in a league where TD passes are worth 6 points. That makes Manning look pretty attractive, but I can't imagine not picking a RB until 2.10.

If you assume Manning, CPepp, Moss, TO, and Holt are all off the board before your pick at 22, you will be left with the 17th best RB in the draft at pick 22. According to the Huddle, that puts you in the A.Green, S.Jackson, L.Jordan group - not too bad for the 22nd pick.

You have to ask yourself if you can live with that.

If you subscribe to the theory that two solid RB’s are what’s required to win, then take a RB. At 1 point per 10 passing, Manning will score you a load most of the time. Priest is already dinged up, and the RB position is a dangerous one. Manning still has basically the same team as last year, so if you were going to reduce risk this would have to be a factor. Getting Manning vs. a >#6 Qb will give you a delta that has to out produce your #1 RB vs. waiting. This pick is obvious… take Manning. He probably won’t get hurt, and every week you’ll be disappointed with only two TD’s. When the yardage piles up, it’s money most of the time.

You could be looking at a wrap around of Lamont and JJarrington ... and surprise the snot out of a lot of people who thought DDavis would stay healthy, Tiki would score TDs, CuMart would still be youthful, and Portis could run without blocking ...

What did Eastwood say? Are you feeling lucky? If so, live on the Edge (pun intended) and take Peyton. If not, go safe with SAlex and grab Bulger later on.

1 for every 10 yards? I take Manning in a heartbeat, assuming they get 6 points per passing TD and RB and WR scoring is normal. Manning will be a consistant 30 to 50 points a game and you pair him together with say Steven Jackson and Michael Bennet the combined scored will be higher than say Edge + Jackson + Trent Green. I assume because of the scoring Bulger will be gone by round 3. Your running backs may even be better than Jackson and Bennet if more QBs go early, which they probably will because of the scoring.

1 point for 10 passing yards?

Wow.

Peyton Manning it is. Take him. There's a lot of good RB's in the 2nd and 3rd round you can get... and Peyton will singlehandedly get you into the playoffs.

At #3, I would take one of LT2/Alexander/Holmes, in that order. #3 is too early for Manning, and, you don't want to be drafting your #2 RB at #27.

Great feedback........Thanks!!!

I have one other option that I threw out there to the guy in position 8. I draft Manning and trade him Manning and my 4th for his 8 and 17. He is not in my division so that would move Manning out of mine!!

We are both thinking about it now, who would make out better in that trade?

I would end up with 8/17/22 pick instead of 3/22/27??????

I would take Alexander, you will not find the same production in the 2nd round at RB.

For the 3rd pick I would take..........

Alexander

Holmes

Edge

.....in that order, whoever is available....you can't wait that long in a 12 team draft to get an RB......that will kill you later on,even if it is Manning.

Personally, I would not use a Round 1 pick on Manning, get your RB there, and target BULGER in the fifth round ( He puts up tons of yards , and is great value at that point of draft !) Would you rather have Manning and saya Michael Bennett or Bulger and Shaun Alex or Edge ?????? HMMMM :D
