kraftykraft
My main league is a keeper league, and we keep a lid on these "my team is losing, so I am going to trade my roster" moves several ways. First, the owners vote on trades in our league. Usually people are pretty fair about it, but if there is something that obviously looks unbalanced, they vote it down. Second, you can't keep or trade for keeper rights for anybody who is drafted in the first or second rounds. This tends to keep the really elite players off the keeper lists. Third, we have a trade deadline around week 12 each year. Fourth, we have a draft lottery for the non-playoff teams, so the first six spots in our draft order are random. Originally that was put in because we had people taking intentional losses to line themselves up for the number one spot in the next draft, but it also reduces draft pick trades because if you trade to someone who is going to the playoffs, you can only get the 7-10 spots in the first round. Personally, I don't see that trading away your lineup because your team sucked and you sold it off the previous year gives you any right to come here and crow about how good your team is this year. Sometimes in a keeper league you take your chances one year to win it all, and it comes back to bite you. In my opinion, if you are out of the race, it is your right and responsibility to YOUR team to make sure you set yourself up for the next season. Otherwise there would be NO REASON to have keeper leagues.
Chief Dick
And one other thing: keeper leagues should be set up so you can run it anyway you see fit. I think sometimes leagues get into the habit of trying to create too level of a playing field because the owners are too big of babies when a trade or a situation doesn't go their way. As long as you play with intregrity and within the written rules of the league, then so be it. And for me personally, I have always set out my best lineup in my keeper league even when out of the race, because I know my games still affect playoff position. But when you are sitting there at 1-10, the team you are playing will still have an advantage over you, the same advantage every other team has when they play you. FiremenCCFFL
the team that kep b favre had the following team we dont start a te (considered a wr) so gonzalez not that valuable obviously kept c martin only other optoin was j horn who i traded him for a 2nd round (which remember is 4th round value in 2 player keeper league) believe it or not this team started the season 4-0 and was the super bowl runner up !!! so i guess maybe my team looks good on paper this year but shows you just how much LUCK is involved in fantasy football C. Martin (NYJ - RB) H. WardP (Pit - WR) T. Gonzalez (KC - TE) J. Horn (NO - WR) W. Dunn (Atl - RB) B. Favre (GB - QB) J. Galloway (TB - WR) L. Suggs (Cle - RB) A. Smith (Ten - RB) A.
