ethnics
I have Tony G and Hines Ward and am being offerred A. Johonson and Heap for them. The problem is that I have Derick Mason on Baltimore as well. He's my #3 WR. Should I still do this trade? My other players are: hasselbeck, Edge, Ahman, Lelie, C. Rogers, Troupe, Harrington, Indy D, and Longwell.. We are in a 12 team performance league with standard scoring

slimshady31
No way you do this trade. HOU offense is going south in a hurry, and Heap is an injury waiting to happen. Gonzo is a bonafide STUD TE and will produce, and Ward is the #1 WR option in PIT even though he's probably more of a #2 WR on most fantasy teams. ts
I can't think of any reason for you to make this trade.
ethnics
The reason this trade appeals to me is because I'm concerned about Hines having a sub-par year and I see A. Johnson in his 3rd year as having a breakout season. I know Tony G is a stud but Troupe or Heap should be pretty good too. Everyone seems to be pretty down on this trade though so I must be missing something

Ward's numbers at the end of the season may not be quite as good as AJ's, but AJ will have 3-4 excellent games & be invisible the rest of the time ... Ward will be consistently decent. At the end of the year, I'll bet the numbers of Gonzo+Ward are a fair shot better than the numbers of AJ+Heap. yo mama
Stand pat. Ward and Johnson are roughly equivilent. The difference at TE, however, is significant. Edited September 17, 2005 by yo mama
slambo
I would also NOT make the trade. Gonzo over Heap. I think Ward rebounds this season and puts up equal or better numbers than Johnson. Its not that Johnson isn't a stud , its the situation he's in, as ts pointed out.
ethnics
Okay, will cancel the trade and keep an eye out. I took Tony G in round three which may have been too early. I really am high on Johnson this year and worried about Ward. Johnson went right after my #3 pick and I was dismayed wishing I had taken him over Tony. Another bad game by Johnson and you might be able to trade Ward for Johnson straight up, without the degredation of quality at TE. No one is saying you should give up on trying to pry Johnson loose (though I'm not big on him this year, myself). Just that the deal you detailed cost you to much to get him.
