The Sam Farha/Fatboy Moneymaker event of 2003 was very fun. We had other interesting players such as Harrington to watch. Fossilman/Williams equally so. The 2005 didn't get my attention. I can't even remember the name of the winner. He was a Brit or something? Is this becuz the more recent stuff had less interesting players? Or am I jaded to this stuff? A relative unknown to you and I, but pretty well-known in the pro circuit. Who knows what '06 will bring. Maybe it was just an off year. I watch to see how cards are being played and for the drama..... of course I could use more than 5 hands an hour and a lot less of that mouthy failed poker player of an announcer who hates everyone. They need to Josh Gordon through thousands of amateurs (some of whom are very good players) to make the final table. I agree, the Sam Farha/MM final table was great. Joseph Hachem, an Aussie won this year. He played extremely well and caught HUGH breaks, as is necessary these days with the largest fields in history. I think the WPT on the Travel Channel is a lot better to watch, and the players are definitely better. They also discuss a lot more strategy. I have been playing forever. My mom taught me when I was like 7. Now at 30-31, I am still playing. We have a weekly game. It is all seeming fake now - not so much the TV - but the folk who are playing on the internet - way too much cheating. My brother and his friends have been making thousands filling half a table and using IM. He has friends that play a whole bunch too. Don't know, the allure is gone. They can better determine their chances of landing a good hand - have a fair idea of what their opponents have (don't have) personally - I am a guy who plays on guts. I could probably count cards - and maybe in one way or another I do (been playing so darned long) but I play double deck pinnochle alot (spelling?) and my father-in-law. I could not play a card, and sneeze and he would know my hand -those are the people I am worried about. If you don't get good cards, ain't a whole lot you can do. I know that statement will get major replies from all the players, but it's true. The other dude bitched at him for discussing a hand and they got into it. The came out and the ref gave one of them a time out. was hoping that it came to blows. That doesn't mean that over time the more skilled players will come out on top. Knowing when to play what cards at what time is where the skill comes in ... but you can still make all the right decisions and still get unlucky.
