Basketball used to be 2-2-1-1-1, but was changed in the 80s because of travel shcedules between the Celtica and Lakers. In any case, I think the schedule is just an excuse. Miami won with a great player and a bunch of old veterans. Either one of these teams would have been beaten down in the playoffs 10 years ago. It may have been a weak finals in comparison to some other previous champions, but as a standalone event, these were a heck of a good series of games in terms of being on a knife edge.
