How is it that some members can post something and yet I can't even see that they're online? Does that have something to do with whether or not you are on an individual's ignore list? For instance, I constantly see posts by Grits but yet I never see his name at the bottom of the screen viewing the post or on the main screen when Reading the Index. I figured it's because I'm on his ignore list and therefore, can't see his name.

Yes it does. Some users set themselves to log in anonymously
