As a newbie to the message boards although not to FF, this is a great thread. I just start reading these posts this year and find the characters pretty entertaining.

Who: RWings, which represents my political philosophy and my beloved Red Wings. Longtime Browns fan still recovering from "The Drive", "The Fumble" and Sipe not throwing it in the f***ing lake in 1980. Aaaarrgghh! Alma mater U of Mich is my college team. Go Blue.

What: Hedge fund manager. You think picking players can be maddening, try picking stocks.

When: 36, but with 1 girl and 3 boys under 8 feel a lot older at times.

Where: Connecticut (sports wasteland stuck btwn equally offensive NY and Boston fans) by way of Lake Orion, MI (Detroit) and my hometown of Bainbridge, OH (Cleveland).

Why: Don't care, just love it.

Fantasy Bio: Same league since 1989, commish most of that time, won it 4 times. Have archived results from all years - great to look back. Used The Huddle in the past, but first year on boards because, quite frankly, I didn't think anyone could offer me anything. Happily realizing, though, that there is wisdom here. Also find the characters and board lingo pretty interesting. Would love to do another league somewhere 'cause one doesn't seem like enough anymore.

Who: hxperson

What: Financial Analyst

When: 24

Where: Toronto

Why: The Huddle was the first FF site I ever visited regularly. I stopped using it for a few years but came back last year. I find this board very useful for posting trade advice for my dynasty leagues, because my league mates peruse most of the other (free) boards too frequently. You guys have always been great at helping a brother out with advice. thumbs_u

Bio: Been playing FF since 97. Loyal Fins fan since I lived in Miami as a kid.

Where: Kittatinny Ridge (Soutern Pocono's), PA - On our mountaintop retreat, where we won't be disturbed by neighbors during football season.

Why: Beats doing drugs!

Fantasy Bio: Participated in my first league in 1985 (Picked DeBerg, QB - TB with my first pick; Almost got laughed out of the draft!) Became Commissioner '86 and ran the league using the USA Today and a Lotus spreadsheet. Won more times than I can remember - usually playing in 2 or 3 leagues each year (offspring from my previous leagues I set up).

When: 37 years and growing more sophisticated by the minute.

Where: Minnesota - South Metro

Fantasy Bio: Started back in '89 and won my first championship right out of the gate. That got me hooked! Since then I have had only one really bad season due to a number of injuries. Newbies don't start this early. Look for them in 6-8 weeks.

I guess I am a newbie .... I ran across the huddle back in June after getting sick and tired of checking CBSSportsline on a daily basis and finding that there just was not enough updated FF information to feed my addiction. OK, I guess I might as well go:

Who: Golden Gopher Fan, as well as pretty much any other MN sports team, especially Twins, Vikes, TWolves. Not as big of a hockey fan, although I couldn't help but follow the Wild last year and their run in the playoffs. I follow the Gophers pretty intensely in hoops and football, and somewhat in hockey. (Maybe I SHOULD become a hockey fan, the way things are going.) Also a big AZ hoops fan, being that the only time the Gophers made it to the Final Four in the past 20+ years, the Big Ten took it away from them because they "cheated." COME ON!! Everybody cheats, they just happened to get caught. (I am still very BITTER!!!)

What: Manager in the "Package Delivery Business." No, I am not in the porn business, for those of you who have as sick of a sense of humor as I .... The company I work for is pretty well-known world-wide -- Think Tom Hanks and a movie about a plane crash and a ball named "Wilson."

When: I started doing FF when I was in 8th grade. Took a couple of years off in college .... OK, it actually was about six years. Decided to get back into FF with some of my high school buddies and restart our original league. Over the past seven years, have progressed from one league to four. So, that puts me where I am today, 28.

Where: Sioux Falls, SD via MN originally. Engaged to a great girl from Ventura, CA who thinks I have a serious problem. My response to her is this: At least you know where I am 90% of the time. Plus, I could be spending all of my time on a much worse "chat line," as she calls this. Anyway, probably will move to the southern California area eventually. Getting married next July in San Diego.

Why: I think I may have already mentioned that I am an addict when it comes to football. I joined an 18-person fantasy golf league just to pass the time until FF starts. As I stated above, CBSSportsline is way overpriced and until the season actually starts, their information is outdated and worthless. So, I spent a couple of hours searching the net for a better FF site. I found several that were somewhat appealing, but as soon as I ran into the huddle, I knew I had found the best. Have been absorbing all of its great info ever since. This is my first year in a fourth league, and the other three are all local leagues. So, I never really thought I had much need for something like this. But, now I know what I was missing.

When: 32

Where: The center of the universe (a.k.a. Manhattan)

Currently I’m helping organize larger money leagues $250-$2000. Four year Huddler, I started posting a little last year as LT56 last year. Last year I won against the brainiacs at this site www.highiqsociety.com even though I’m a lot more stupider than they be. loco

Good luck to everyone this year.

Who: Pigskin Preacha, known in some other parts as RevHookem, lifelong Cowboys fan and Longhorn grad head_ban Hook'em Horns!!!

What: Husband to my wife, Daddy to my 2 kids, Sr Pastor at my church... and football fan from sun-up to moon-down, 24/7/365

When: 35 yrs young

Where: Texan thru and thru, currently exiled to the land of the Razorbacks. Born in Cowtown (Ft Worth), reared in Denton (Tx).

Why: Cuz I'm a freakin' football fanatic, just like the rest of ya!... For instance, ever since I came to my current church, one of the high holy days here is our annual Kick-Off Sunday, which is the day our Fall programs start - and more importantly, the day I wear my Aikman jersey in the pulpit and use only football illustrations in my sermon. (It's now second only to Easter in Sunday morning attendance here.) This year we've worked up an entire ESPN Sportscenter theme for worship, and I'll be donned in full Longhorn regalia, as it is the week prior to the Horns and Razorbacks clashing in Austin.

Fantasy Bio: Been playing FF for 11 yrs, been a Huddler for 3... but a newbie to the boards (as of last week). I'm in two leagues at church, one 5 year old 10-team dynasty which I have won 2 of the last 3 years, one 5 year old 24-team redraft which I have won 3 of the last 4 years, both have funky scoring rules. I'm also in 2 online leagues, one low-dollar (Budget Football) and one free (ESPN Gridiron Challenge)... and yes, I'm already catching on how low on the totem pole free leagues are. But I do them just for fun. I actually finished 10th in the nation in the ESPN league two years ago, out of over one million entrants.

Jeezus H. Christ!! another Texan added to the mix and a holy roller too boot :D Though you do sound a bit more fun than my Brother In Law who is a Southern Baptist Mininster in Austin by way of Baylor. Holier than thou bastage that he is coach

Welcome preach, ever have Priest Holmes on your teams? wink

Are you kidding me? With a name like Priest and a Longhorn pedigree, I own him in every league I'm in! wink He and LT are always first on my list (I went to TCU's seminary for grad school), followed closely by Ricky. Next year, I'm planning on adding Roy Williams to that list. Who knows - if Simms can slowly move up the depth chart at QB, in a couple of years I may be able to start an all-Longhorn/Horned Frog lineup!

As for your other remarks, Holy Roller I'm not... nor Baptist. In fact, I was just grabbing a cold one from the fridge (Shiner - nuthin beats a good Texas brew), and I'm trying to figure out how much sleep I'll get before church Sunday by the time I get home from Branson Saturday night after taking my wife to see Springsteen ("The Boss" has never really been my favorite, but she will absolutely flip when she finds out I scored some tix). It'll make for a sleepy Sunday morning -- but the dividends from the wifey made this decision a no-brainer. brow thumbs_u
