Are DB's more effective against the run, or the pass

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have some proof, or at least a strong opinion of whether it is better to start DB's against a predominant running team or a predominant passing team?

The Vikings run the ball a lot, and T. Jackson may only pass a few time during the game. The Saints pass the ball 40 times a game, and don't run the ball very often. So what type of game plan might influence how many points a DB might get in a game. Our league awards 1/2 point for an assisted tackle, a full point for a solo tackle, 2 points for a sack, and 3 points for an interception or fumble recovery.

Would DB's get more tackles against a running team, or a passing team, where they might make tackles after a catch?

Any ideas?

this is not an easy nor a short answer....

it would probably be easier if you are trying to decide between a few different players to just list them

For me, the question is one for long term purposes, more than just a WDIS type post. But my two DB's are Leigh Bodden, Browns playing at home against the Bills, or Chris Harris at home against the Seahawks.

Any help or opinions are welcome.

I guess the quickest answer is: play FS vs. passing teams and play SS vs. running teams.
