Tommyknocker
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. First a little background. A couple months ago I had a virus which would immediately log me off as quickly as I logged on, through some advise from here I did a system recovery which got me back up and running. But now Windows media player and Napster dont work right. Windows media does OK until I click on "burn" then I get the message " Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and must close" Napster on the other hand begins to open and has the "configuring windows media player< please wait" thing going on for a couple seconds then I get the message "Napster has encountered a problem and must close" I did contact Napster tech support and after going through some things with them I was told it must be a windows problem. I'm lost as the only thing I know to do at this point is to reformat, but Id really rather not. Should I call HP tech support and pay the 2.99/minute or does anyone here have some other thoughts or ideas? My music is why I have a PC so I really need this thing fixed. Kid Cid
Try reinstalling the lastest version of Media Player. It sounds like a file may be missing or corrupted.
Tommyknocker
Ive done that a couple three times and also Napster had me try some backdoor stuff in the media players internal files and such , also to no avail.
rocknrobn26
Don't waste your $$$ on HP's support. Check this link out: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;330332 I had a similar problem when I installed, then uninstalled Nero. But my problem was w/ Media Creator on my laptop. When it wanted to close I clicked the error report and saw a file name. I took a copy of that file (the name of which I can't remember) off of my desktop, overlaid it in the same directory (c:\windows) on the laptop and it fixed the problem. Good Luck!
