CaP'N GRuNGe
that record had nothing to do with Favre's pro bowl season. Show me the genius pick in any of Thompson's drafts. You're the one who said he did well for GB in the draft prove it At least he hasn't traded up early in the draft to grab a punter. (That was before his time right?) Big John
At least he hasn't traded up early in the draft to grab a kicker. (That was before his time right?) Yep, Sherman traded up for the bust punter.

piratesownninjas
Let's take a look at some notable draft picks with Ted Thompson in the GM chair:2005- (I'm assuming this was his draft) 1st rd- A.Rodgers (coincidence) Terrence Murphy WR- Nick Collins DB- solid Marvel Underwood- Brady Poppinga LB- solid not spectacular 2006 1st rd- AJ Hawk (5th pick) FYI Demeco Ryans went 25 picks later Colledge- solid OL Jennings- great '07 will see how he translates without Favre Abdul Hodge LB- Corey RodgersCB- Spitz- solid OL Johnny Jolly- Good deep DT pick 2007- 1st rd- Justin Hartell DT- 7 games, 2 starts, 10 solo 6 assist Brandon Jackson RB- 75 car 267 yds. 1td 3.6 ypc James Jones WR- solid pick 2008- Well the draft genius didn't have a first rounder so we'll see how Jordey Nelson pans out. It's nice to see he burned his other 2nd round pick on A.Rodgers replacement. Terrence Murphy looked pretty good before a career ending neck injury. Abdul Hodge is a depth/special teams guy. Justin Harrell was a rookie coming off an injury, they didn't expect him to do much last year And while you're attempting to slam Ted Thompson remember he also saw something in Mike McCarthy, and Ryan Grant. piratesownninjas
He was being touted as a draft guru and nothing in his record points to that Yeah, because building a team up through the draft, which he has done and having them turn from a 4-12 team to a 14-4 team doesn't mean much... Of the starters on the team last year, how many where Ted Thompson guys... Nick Collins, Atari Bigby, Charles Woodson, AJ Hawk, Brady Poppinga, Ryan Pickett, Colledge/Coston, Spitz, Jennings, Jones, and Ryan Grant. Mason Crosby and John Ryan if we're counting kickers. While none of the guys have been the "elite" type guy, they're all at the very least extremely solid. Watch for a 2nd year lineman by the name of Allen Barbre to take a job this year and be the big time lineman. So who in your mind is a draft guru? It's about winning games, which Ted Thompson and his players/coaching staff have done at exponential rates... Your "evaluations" are pretty sloppy as is, so instead of talking out of your rear, why not do just a tad bit of research? piratesownninjas
You also lost me when you mentioned Colledge as a solid OL. Of Ted Thompson's draft picks, he's been the most disappointing in my mind.

Big Ernie McCracken
It is obvious the guy knows how to draft, so if he believes in Rodgers that much I have no choice but to think him right. Bronco Billy
It's middle of the day on August 2nd & Favre still has had his Constitutional right to start as a NFL QB withheld? This sounds like a case for a good civil rights attorney. He can use Big Ernie as his star expert witness in what should be a slam dunk. CaP'N GRuNGe
Saw this on another message board... GREEN BAY, WI -- After yesterday's reports that the Green Bay Packers offered erstwhile QB Brett Favre as much as $20 million to stay retired, the Pack's quarterback debacle has taken a turn for the bizarre as sources within Green Bay's front office say heir apparent Aaron Rodgers came to the team looking for a similar offer. "It pretty much caught everybody around here off guard," said one high-ranking Packers official, speaking on condition of anonymity. "I mean, we only offered the 20 million to Favre so he would stay the hell out of Aaron's way, but I guess when Aaron heard about it he thought that sounded like a good deal. To his credit, he did say he was willing to accept as little as $15 million to not play; you know, given his comparative lack of experience." gbpfan1231
Favre has been reinstated - reported by Werder on ESPN. He hopes to be in GB for Family Night. I guess the circus is coming to town. tazinib1
ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that quarterback Brett Favre has been reinstated to the NFL. Favre plans to fly to Green Bay on Sunday and report to camp. The latest rumor is that the Packers plan to let Favre do only individual work in camp and release him the day before the season starts. At that point, he'll be so far behind that he won't be able to help a team like the Vikings early in the season. tazinib1
Their rumors are usually just that - unfounded rumors. I surely hope so. Not only would that kind of action be a horrendous black eye for the front office, but the MEDIA CIRCUS around Favre every single damned day would be almost unbearable.
