Chief Dick
Here's one I like: 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 2 tbs sweet hungarian paprika 1 tbs dry mustard 1 tbs onion salt 1 tbs chili seasoning 1 tbs seasoned salt 1 tbs freshly ground black pepper (although this recipe doesn't call for it, I tend to add a 2-3 tbs of granulated garlic. I loves me the garlic.) That's about right. Has all the main stuff. I may add a teaspoon of ground ginger, and a little allspice also. I also tend to go lighter on the sugar, maybe 3/4 cup, but that's just my preference.
HowboutthemCowboys
OK, so my wife asked me today to do ribs for Mothers Day (it just so happens that we'll have both mothers visiting ). I prefer dry ribs with a sauce served on the side. Any suggestions for a dry rub for the ribs? 1/4cup sugar 1/4 cup non-iodized table salt 1/8 cup brown sugar, dried 4 teaspoons chili powder 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon Accent (MSG) 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground 1 teaspoon granulated garlic 1 teaspoon onion powder Spread the brown sugar out on a cookie sheet and let it dry at room temperature for several hours, or place it is a slightly warm oven. Once dried, place brown sugar in a Ziploc bag and break up any clumps using a rolling pin or the bottom of a drinking glass. Got this from the 'net. Very good IMO. I double the cayenne.
