Avernus
I'm worried about losing tonight's game because I expect a shootout...and if we lose, then we have Moyer for game 3 and we could easily go down 2-1.... we'll need a whole lot of luck tonight to pull it out... C'mon Avern... do you really want your memory of this once-every-15-years event to be that you worried through the entire Series that the Phils were going to lose every game they play? Enjoy it, and don't let the Negadelhia in you rear its ugly head. On point, they get a righthanded fastball pitcher that went 0-2 in the ALCS, and got rocked his last outing by the Red Sox at home. Our lefthanded bats are drooling at this match-up tonight. If Myers can give us 6 innings of 3-4-5 run baseball, we should be more than good. I don' t think they need an ounce of luck tonight....they just need to play well.
TDFFFreak
These are two evenly matched teams and I once again, I feel our bullpen is good enough to win us a game in this series which could be the difference in winning the whole thing. darin3
5-game series. Minus Hamels, the Rays now have the better pitching staff. This is gonna go 6 or 7 for sure. Wish I could have scheduled my trip back to the Philly area a little later so I was in town for a series game. Not really rooting for either team, although I'd like to see Maddon and his kids pulls this out. David Price has wicked nasty stuff, and I like Pena, Longoria and Upton. Good kids that will be here again, despite being in the same league as the Sux and the Spankees.
TDFFFreak
my god can we leave any more guys on in scoring position....the phils need to start hitting when it matters or this is going to be an ugly series Seriously. This is supposed to be among the best line ups in all of the majors and we have done squat the first two games of the series. We continue this and we will lose this series for sure. I have zero problem with the Rays players as a team. What I do have a problem is with the Tampa fan base that (I believe) ranked 5th to last in attendance during the regular season and they were leading the AL East almost the entire season. They just don't deserve it. Edited October 24, 2008 by TDFFFreak

I bet they spent september arguing over what the team name is... - "It's the devil Rays" - "NO.....they changed it to just the Rays" - "no way, they are the Devil Rays, silly" the cowbell is weak and irritating.....if we lose this, there is no god....</sarcasm>...I don't want people flipping out over a fececious comment... If that's all we ever did, then we are angels compared to Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Boston & New York. I didn't include Dallas, because their fans are partially retarded. so they have an excuse for being the way they are.

Philly's obviously need to do pick up some of these base runners or this will not be good...
i_am_the_swammi
I may be nuts, but I actually like the Moyer/Garza match-up. Moyer can be Maddux-crafty, and if he can frustrate the agressive rays' bats with a mixture of pitches on-the-paint and out of the strike-zone, he's got a real chance. If the Rays are patient, and force Moyer to throw strikes, Moyer will get crushed. It will be interesting to see how disciplined the young Rays will be. While Garza is pitching well as of late, he is another hard-throwing right-hander...the kind the Phils like. The Phils, as I thought, hit Shields well last night...they just couldn't play small-ball with any efficiency. Similarly, they should get plenty of opportunities against Garza to get baserunners in scoring position. If they can convert by just getting the bat on the ball, they should manage some runs. if the Phils can score 5+ runs, I think they win Saturday. Sorry, just because he dined at the last supper doesn't make Moyer "Maddux-crafty". I like Moyer; he's been a nice pitcher with moxie for a long time and he certainly deserves to be in a Series, finally.... but the Rays are pretty patient hitters and I think they're going to torch him. Garza has done a real nice job this post-season. The Phils' bats can certainly get to him though. I see a higher-scoring affair this time around. Oh, and I'm not sure the game will actually happen tomorrow. Isn't a good deal of rain expected?
ebartender
The Phils have to stop swinging for the fences every time they come to bat. If they just put the ball in play half the time they would have won the first two games with ease.

Doc Holliday
I don't see why the Phils are not batting Victorino 2nd. the guy is a sparkplug and with the speed of Rollins and Victorino they can generate runs on the bases. On another note I am amazed the Rays bullpen has let the Rays get this far in the playoffs. it has been a long time since I have been as impressed with a manager the way I am impressed with Joe Maddon.
