The Wolf
No updates as it has been mellow today as we are mostly doing final draft preps. Tonight for the non-drafters may be wild, but tomorrow usually is out of control Sooo...you and Darin were in the draft room last year...Chargerz and Bush in this year? That means you and D3 are in for a wild night!

darin3
I am in work now and I can smell the booze come off my pores. Blondies was classic Sucker. Didn't have internet in my room and no longer have the Verizon card, so sorry for the lack of updates ... I will post a full synopsis later tonight, but let's just say it started with a bang (and a crash) and went from there.

darin3
Home safe. Had a blast. Right now I say I will cut the trip by a day, come January, I'm sure I'll be back on the Thur-Monday bandwagon. Puh-huh-ssay! I was actually thinking of extending the trip another night... stay and watch the MNF doubleheader. Rooms are cheap on Monday nights. Gotta come out on Thursday to get that kickoff game in. So, recap time: Landed early and started tipping back cold ones there at the airport with H8, BC and ATaM. Got to the hotel and received our room-drinkin' beers and booze and made our way to Blondie's for the game. To be perfectly honest, I don't remember watching one snap of the game and bugged out around 6:30 or 7pm after bouncers were telling us to remove a certain Huddler, another Huddler was vomiting on our table, and knew I had enough. Kind of disappointed in myself. Still, it was a heck of a way to kick the weekend off. Oh, and a certain vomiting Huddler had to be removed via wheelchair. Woke up feeling OK on Friday morning (after being woken up at 3am by Soup and H8 who were foraging for beers) and started the cocktails bright and early. Played some table games and poker and got a bet in on the Colorado/Toledo game. Ended up watching the game at Hooters, and made our way back to MGM for some beers with Soup and ton-moran-a-dog. Didn't want to get too crazy, seeing that we had a long day ahead of us, and we were in the infamous "blow-up sheep" bar.... there's just something about that place. Started even earlier on Saturday with the rum n' cokes, and ended up watching a good 6 hours of football at the blow-up sheep bar ... what a find that was: comfortable seating, 3 TVs within easy viewing (can't really watch more than that at any given time anyways) and a good deal on beers. Hung out with a dude from Florida who was super cool and was good to bounce both fantasy football ideas off as well as college football betting. Was getting round-by-round updates from GTS on our draft... and was pleasantly surprised with many of the picks, and we ended up with a very solid squad. Hit a nice 3-game parlay, and continued the beer-imbibing at MGM's pool. Had some more room beers/booze before heading out to find some clubbin' action. NY-NY didn't really pan out, but the bar at Hooters ended up being a gold mine. Sunday morning came too quickly, but everything worked out perfectly for a day's worth of NFL viewing (thanks Bier!). As the group dwindled down to but a brave few, we ate at Hooters and retired to our rooms pretty early to relax. At least 2 of the 3 Huddler WCOFF teams had HUGH Sundays! It was a great time... great to see you all again. Already looking forward to WCOFF 2010. Oh, and if anyone needs any pre-paid legal services, well... you know what to do! jaxfactor
Just getting settled in as I made it home about half an hour ago. I guess i was the last Huddler in Vegas. Had a blast Sunday watching the games and tilting back quite a few brews. The rest of Sunday night was a complete blur. I remember eating with the group at Hooters, but then it gets really foggy. I hope I paid my share of the food bill. I got caught talking to some British girl for about half an hour when she said that she had to go back into the bar(her hubby was worried about her). And boy, was he pissed! Ended up having quite a chat with those folks and more beer drinking. Was supposed to meet up with the group for more drinking but don't remember what the hell I ended up doing. Probably with the British couple BSing as I'm pretty quiet until I get smashed then you can't shut me up. I missed Al's call as he and I were going to play some table games, but I ended up staggering my way back to the Flamingo and sat down at a $15 blackjack table. I had my best night playing blackjack. Go figure...I was drunk as hell. Hit the sucker bet(Lucky Ladies) only playing it 3 times. Put $5 on it and got delt two very pretty queens. I hated to quit as I was having mucho luck, but at that point I was so tired and I didn't want to get too stupid and blow all my winnings. Oh, Tom, I placed your roulette bet. Forgot to tell you on the phone. Placed it Thursday evening and it didn't hit. Al was with me as a witness. Then I proceeded to get stupid and put a C-note on red and what comes up? Green double zero. Even after my good night Sunday night, I still came out 200-300 down. And a special thanks to Ton's Bungles as they blew it for me. Had a great time and sorry I didn't get to see some of you before Sunday night was over, but I was in drunk ass mode. twiley
How did the event go? There are a ton of pissed off people on the WCOFF message boards ranting about Vegas and Atlantic City drafts. Just curious since it was like pulling teeth to get things changed by WCOFF for our team prior to the weekend.
BillyBalata
I really didn't notice any major problems during the draft. Then again being in league #1 our table was stuck behind a curtain where they had some of the previous drafts, celebrity draft, auction drafts and what not. So we were separated from the main draft room with all the other leagues. While it was a lot quieter, kind of missed out on that atmosphere. We also missed out on any of the tv taping. I got a little nervous when i first sat down saturday as all the lights and cameras were centralized over our table, making it appear we were going to be the main attraction. After all, last years champion was sitting right next to me. And then also there was, well, me . But it became apparent that they were just staged that way left over from previous drafts on that table. As once the main draft got going, the cameras moved away and spent the entire time over the main room, not once filming our table. I thought last years activities before the drafting actually began were too drawn out. Too many speakers and too many people brought out on stage. Took an hour. This year, pretty short welcome, the color guard and the national anthem and away we went. Food was decent. Some weird little finger sandwiches which weren't all that bad. Hot dogs, Polish Sausages, some various kinds of potatoes I think. Lines went quicker then last year. And to top it all off, there were little freezers placed all over the place filled with ice cream. Alchico cleaned up once he spotted those. I Like Soup
Well, another WCOFF weekend under the belt and it really has become one of the placeholders on my calendar every year. However, with this being my 5th trip to Vegas in '09, I had to tailor it down to a Sunday evening departure instead of Monday. My synopsis? Well, got in around 550pm Thursday evening and made a mad rush for the hotel, unpacked, caught a cab over to the Miracle Mile by 630pm and...stood around for about 45 minutes as I didn't see a large group of Huddlers (or hear them for that matter). I finally saw Jax talking on the phone outside and he told me pretty much everyone was gone with the exception of alchico, Billy, and himself. You bunch of douccchhe bags passing out before 7pm in Vegas?...meow. So, it was left to me, tonormanondog (who had just arrived), alchico, jax, and billy to continue the evening! About 2am rolls around and I go back to my hotel, wake H8 up, and then reacquaint myself with my fallen Huddle brethren from earlier in the evening. Talking a little smack, rolling around on darin/Atom/BC/Bier's beds and stuff... Grab some beer from the cache they had and then talked H8 in to going back to the MGM bar until 6am... Friday...what did I do on Friday? Woke up and had some lunch at Wolfgang Puck's and could only muster up an appetite for Chicken Soup ()...oh yeah, because earlier I had scarfed down the McD's that I got H8 and I on my walk back to the room Thursday night and forgot about it and didn't eat it. Yeah, don't eat McD's Double Cheeseburgers after they've been sitting out for 8 hours...they will sit in your stomach like a brick. H8 ended up drinking my beer at Wolfgang's and then we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner at SeaBlue, which was good! Ate dinner, then played some blackjack at Hooter's...the worst luck I have EVER had at blackjack. I can usually go about 8-10 hours on $100 just playing a $5 table, getting drinks, etc. This $10 table was unforgiving and a rather cute, smart-alecky dealer (in a good way) siphoned my money like she was stealing $4/gallon gasoline out of my ride! Oddly, the other dealer that was double teaming us remembered me from last year... Went to bed around 4am? and knew I wouldn't be making it to the draft in the morning with the fellas. Saturday I lazed around the casino, drank some beer, and then ended up going to the MGM pool with Bier, Atom, and tonormanondog for some relaxation (umm, we gave twiley picture updates... ). Atom cracked me up all day with his communication skills... We headed back to Hooters, ordered some pizza and a crap load of Chinese food. I ate about a bushel of rice and Mongolian Beef, which severely curbed my beer intake for about the next, oh, 5 to 6 hours! I had to switch over to rum/coke and vodka/cranberry. Some local friends of mine met up with us and drank and danced the night away and finally headed out around 1am. Sunday...FOOTBALL!!!!! My two FF teams pretty much sucked the first week, I'll leave it at that. Further compounding my bad NFL day, the Bengals allow a fluke play to give them an L...but at least I was jumping up and down last night with an improbable Patriots win.The beer started flowing pretty good the 2nd set of games, caught my flight back to Phoenix (2 rum and cokes in first class thank you very much! ), and home safe and sound by 730pm. I pretty much knew everyone that was there this year (much smaller than years past ), but I will say I didn't hang with alchico, billy, or jax as much...to the point we started calling y'all the old guys! Good to see them nonetheless. Tonormanondog was a pleasure to meet! His sense of hughmor is subtle and yet no less deadly than the other guys! Hugs go out to darin, BC, Atom, Bier, and H8...sniff, sniff. I hated leaving early. I will be joining Atom for a trip to LA in the not too distant future! Had a great time and I'll see y'all next year!
