polksalet
This guy is the real deal. Tubby left them with no talent and he came in and dealt with the aftermath. Good luck on finding someone better. i honestly think there is no better coach in all the land. If you can make the Aggies good in bball, actually there is no parallel in all of sports that I am aware of.
Flip_Side
word is that Donovan is leaving Florida for Kentucky
polksalet
word is that Donovan is leaving Florida for Kentucky I think that would a really stupid move for him. UK is a mess right now from my viewpoint. But I'm not a real bball fan. I just look out there and they look like the gansterbacks. No talent and gutless. UF has talent I believe. Kid Cid
First of all, I think this was remarkably shortsighted by the school. C'mon, he's only been there two frakking years! He's barely got his system in place and he's still working with Tubby's recruits. Just stupid if you ask me. Second, this job is a no-win situation for any established head coach. Basically the school said you could be god, but if you don't make the NCAAs in two years you're out of here. Screw that, I don't care how much money they throw at you, you'll never be able to meet expectations there. Billy Donovan would be an idiot to take that job. Locking players in bathroom stalls, out on the town 5 nights a week getting sloshed in the wide open, forcing Perry Stevenson to eat a box of pop tarts because he thought he was too skinny.......the guy is a douchebag. Add that to the fact that he can't answer a simple question from a reporter, and the writing was on the wall for this. He will NOT get a major D1 job anytime soon. And what system? Did you guys watch any Kentucky games this year? Our offense was a non offense. No motion, terrible spacing, we got progressively worse as the year wore on. Calipari will be a star here, I'm looking forward to it.

Cyclones
So do you believe he was a great coach at UTEP and ATM? I won't lie Polk, I didn't watch any UTEP games and only a handful of A&M games while he was there. But I did watch all but 3 UK games over the last 2 seasons. And he didn't impress me. We were 16-4 this year after 20 games and finished terribly. We had no offensive scheme and couldn't defend the 3 to save our lives. On top of this there were a torrent of off court issues coupled with the fact that he was taking verbal commitments from kids that were too young to see R rated movies (and in one case, from a kid that could barely get into a PG 13 without his parents.) The UK job is an entirely different animal than the ones mentioned above. Living in the fishbowl in Lexington is on a different level, and BCG simply crumbled under the pressure. A&M fans were posting on our message boards that he looked 10 years older this season than he did during his last in Texas. He wasn't a good fit, but I'll trade the two years for what's getting ready to happen under Cal.

Cyclones
Story in the local paper a couple of days ago about the house Coach Cal bought.....the guy that sold it to him says he first looked at it "several weeks ago." Sounds to me like the wheels for this whole deal were put in motion before BCG was canned.
Henry Muto
As a Kentucky fan I am glad he is gone and I think we did pretty good getting his replacement so stick it where the sun don't shine buddy.
