Come Together-Aerosmith

I thought about this one as well. Then realized the reason I liked it so much more than the Beatles version was that I heard it first and got comfortable with the cover before I had a chance to enjoy the original. My guess is that those who grew up on the Beatles version would vehemently disagree.

Don't forget Joplin's Ball 'n' Chain originally performed by Big Mama Thornton.

And, most people don't know that "Another Little Piece of My Heart" was originally by Erma Franklin, Aretha's sister.

I actually prefer the original to Janis' version.

Amazing Grace - Blind Boys of Alabama

I was going to mention this as well. My entre to their music was when a co-corker turned me on to one of their CDs. (I can't remember the name right now). They did a version of that tune where it was set to the music of the Animals' House of the Rising Sun. It so totally blew me away that I had to go and get my own recording of it. I bought 4 CDs with Amazing Grace on it before I found the right one.
