I certainly would not discount Iowa's BCS win which was probably the bigger so called upset.

Here's a quick glance on how the SEC teams have done this decade.

Florida: 100-30

LSU: 99-31

UGA: 98-31

Auburn: 88-39

Tenn: 83-44

Bama: 79-48

Ark: 71-54

USCe: 68-54

Ole Miss: 63-58

UK: 50-70

Miss St: 42-76

Vandy: 34-83

In terms of national respect... it's Rose Bowl or nothing for the Big Ten. Especially Ohio State, the flag bearer of the conference who has been 0-3 on the big stage during that 06-08 run. For Iowa it was really kind of a chance to redeem themselves from the 02 debacle against USC. Kirk Ferentz will even admit, it was by far his worst coaching performance ever, and not just because they lost, but because Iowa really had a good team that year and they were completely unprepared to play that game. He even said as much during his post game press conference after the Ga Tech game.

I would 100% agree if USC was the Rose Bowl opponent. Seems like the Big 10 wins the Rose alot more often whenever the Trojans arn't there.

I think a lot of the 2006-2008 issues were due to the tOSU BCS bids bumping all the B11 schools up one bowl. Imagine last year. Instead of:

LSU vs. tOSU - BCS

USC vs. Illinois - Rose

Florida vs. U-M - Cap One

Tennessee vs. Wisconsin - Outback

Boston College vs. MSU - Champs Sports

Texas A&M vs. Penn St. - Valero Alamo

Oklahoma St. vs. Indiana - Insight

Central Michigan vs. Purdue - Motor City

You'd have:

USC vs. tOSU - Rose

Florida vs. Illinois - Cap One

Tennesee vs. U-M - Outback

Boston College vs. Wisconsin - Champs Sports

Texas A&M vs. MSU - Valero Alamo

Oklahoma St. vs. Penn St. - Insight

Central Michigan vs. Indiana - Motor City

The B11 went 2-5 in reality; I think the second scenario is a lot more favorable.

Doesn't look like things are going to change as far as the SEC being the undisputed #1 conference in the nation.

Granted it's still a little early, but it starting to look like 4 out of the top 6 recruiting classes are SEC football programs.

Florida

Alabama

Auburn

LSU
