HUDDLERS' 2010 NFL MOCK DRAFT!

Dexter McCluster made sense for me because he can do several things that the Packers currently can't.

1. Ryan Grant is a solid back, but can't play every play. McCluster steps in from day one as the third down back and can be dynamite in that position. He can do what Brandon Jackson/Ahman Green/Dogfart can't do... Play.

2. Return specialst. Anyone who's watched packers games the past few years know the agony that has been the return game. Will Blackmon gets hurt tying his shoes, and Jordy Nelson returning the ball makes me want to punch myself in the crotch. Once again, this guy is electric.

3. Play the slot if necessary. While GB has a ton of WR, none are quick twitch slot guys.

With a late 2nd round pick, the Packers land a guy that fills two massive holes on offense and special teams, while adding another weapon to Aaron Rodgers arsenal.

I had planned on going OL/DB all draft, but the first round selection makes me not so nervous about the OL, and McCluster fills too many holes to be passed over.

We selected DE, Corey Wootton because of his exceptional size, arms/wingspan. He shows the ability the stack, shed and anchor against the run at over 6 foot 6 and over 270 lbs. He suffered a knee injury late in '08 and some are scared away because his play was not at 100% much after that. However, he has very good lateral agility, flattening down the line and closing on the ball. He plays with good balance, smarts and is a very tough, hard worker. He should fit the Cowboys' system to a "T".

As a request, I have included all the players selected by position in the original post to make it easier to see who's been drafted, who's left and so nobody makes the mistake of selecting a player twice.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Muck and good suggestion.

I gambled a little bit and took Greg Hardy for the Seahawks. They need a pass-rushing specialist to play Pete Carroll's "elephant back" position in the 4-3. Hardy has elite athleticism (played on the basketball team and has 3TD's as a TE). He is a very high risk player, but could be anywhere from the steal of the draft to one of the biggest busts in the draft. There are questions of health and motivation, but his physical talent is unquestionably elite. Draws comparisons to Marion Williams and Julius Peppers, but could also very well be a non-factor if the coaching staff can't get him motivated. Not the safest pick, but Carroll/Schneider haven't played it safe so far, and I'm not looking for them to do so on draft day.

If this was the real draft and I couldn't have gotten Bradford at #6, Colt McCoy would have been a strong possibility here.

Colt McCoy to the Vikings in the second round. I could see them drafting a QB here. I think McCoy could be a good fit if he sits and learns the system for a few years. He is a proven winner and good leader, just don't know if his game can (mechanics and the spread offense he was in) will transfer to the NFL. Maybe 2V can add more about McCoy and if the Vikings would take him here.

McCoy will be a very good WCO quarterback; the spread Texas played actually required him to make quick reads, and while he doesn't have a cannon for an arm he can make all the necessary throws and has the kind of accuracy a WCO QB needs. His intangibles are obvious as the winningest QB in college football history, and assuming the shoulder checks out (have heard nothing to suggest otherwise) he'd be a great pick for the Vikings. He could sit for a year behind Favre and take over after that. It's clear to everybody except perhaps Childress and T-Jax that Jackson is not the solution, and the Vikings need to prepare for life after Favre—be it this year or next or in 2019.

Nice pick to fall right into your lap. I think McCoy could be a really nice fit for the Vikes as they basically run a remade West Coast Offense with Favre and that's the exact type of offense McCoy and his lacking in ideal arm strength would be best suited. McCoy is very smart and has great short distance accuracy. He has very solid athletic ability and foot quickness to escape the rush and is very tough and extremely competitive. He knows where to go with the ball and gets it out of his hand quickly. His drive and abilities in the pocket have been compared to Jeff Garcia. He does get rattled in the pocket and has a tendency to lock onto WRs, getting tunnel vision. He'll drift in the pocket, not go through the proper progressions and use a sidearm, slinging release that leads to an increase in batted balls at the line.

Overall, I think it's a very solid choice though.

That makes me feel a little better about the pick and now I am kind of hoping they are looking for the QB of the future after Favre retires. Now is the time...Do you think McCoy will last that long or will he go earlier?

aw. Colt McCoy to the Colts might've been too much to pass up.

For all the biatchin I do about Polian not paying enough to attention to the D (and when he does being very spotty), I can't believe I took an OT, but the OL, which has never been exceedingly deep, is looking mighty thin right now. And Veldheer obviously represents a gamble given his small college level of competition...but that's the ONLY real question mark I see/know of (and yes I admit I never saw him play a down). From what I gather it's like this: great size, moves well, not a head case - what's not to like? He also did very well at the combine (FWIW).

I could have easily made a case for several front 7 guys on the D and almost took one, but Ugoh has been a major disappointment and Johnson is a nice backup but no more, so let's keep Peyton aka The Franchise as upright and un-rushed as possible.

Also working in Veldheer's favor is that he hails from Hillsdale, the alma mater of longtime Colts O-line coach Howard Mudd. Indy has said they want to get bigger up front, and their tackles haven't been anything special so the pick definitely makes sense.

With RFA kicking off in my dynasty leagues I am going to call it at 2 rounds. Anyone is welcome to take over the Saints but I just have too many things to keep track of right now to go further with this.

Not a problem. We did 3 rounds last year and after the slow start we got off to, I didn't think we'd get through 2. However, we've been moving along very well as of late so I figured, what the hell we'll give it a go. I anticipate some may drop their teams and if it's too many, we'll just stop. Otherwise, as a group we'll just pick for those teams as we go. Thanks for taking part tbimm.

Bowman taken right after me. He was my 2d choice - how could I pass on a Penn St LB

I'm done too FYI. Thx and again pardon for holding up on the 1st round pick.

If it's any consolation I really don't think he would be there for either one of us in the real draft. I was pleasantly surprised to find him still available. That allowed me to address 2 of the major concerns for the Saints in the 1st 2 rounds.

I'm thinking that maybe we should call it quits considering we've already had a couple drop out and we haven't had a pick in 2, going on 3 days. Thanks to all those who took part.

With the 3rd selection of the 3rd round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Eric Decker, WR, Minnesota. Thats a wraop.

I didn't know it was still going. Glad I didn't go WR to Miami with the Marshall trade.
