they also wasted a hell of a lot of time worrying about a blow-job

which maybe presents a parable about congress' usefulness. perhaps it's better if they have some irrelevant toy to play with and distract them than if they are "doing their jobs" trying to fix every damn problem while actually making it worse.

Honestly....do you believe this? I find it to be untrue with most people. You might get through to a few, but not many.

Yes I do. There are plenty of people here on the boards that will listen to what I have to say even though they may not agree with it. I'm not concerned with them immediately changing their minds, that won't happen. But most folks will take the time to listen then laugh at you with derision.

There is something called 'hegemony' which works well in a bit of what they're trying to say: certain groups of people have similar interests. Just because they have similar interests does not mean they gather in a smoke filled room to plot out the course of the known universe in pursuit of these interests. They've been around long enough to know what the other is up to and all involved have a pretty good idea of what to do to move this shared agenda forward. There is still competition within this 'hegemony' which pulls it apart in certain directions.

That doesn't explain how the debate here morphed from (yet another) coo coo for cocoa puffs theory that Obama is a Kenyan-born Socialist Muslim© into a greater conspiracy theory that gets hidden behind a "do your research" argument. That's just poor debating skills.

You think that republican staffers are going to get on board with the democrat that takes the place of the Republican that was voted out... ain't the way it works. I have had numerous friends that were staffers in D.C. it isn't that easy to jump around from politician to politician.

I did work in DC, and it aint all that tough to go from one Republican to another . . or a lobbying firm. Same with dem staffer. The problem is with BOTH parties, but there aint a legitimate alternative yet . . . Perot tried his best and still failed. Same with Nader. TEA party is a one plank platform, and that doesnt play in Peoria, you need some other substance.

Let me put it this way, like I said earlier, when you lose a repub senator to a dem challenger, the staffer of that repub is not going to be working for that Dem. Let's take for example when Wyche Fowler lost to Paul Coverdell, none of Wyche's staffers went to work w. Coverdell. He put together his own group and not all of them were Washingtonian staffers. With a mass purging of elected officials, you are going to see a great deal of turnover in the staffers.

So again, if you're fine with the status quo and feel that electing new reps isn't going to solve anything, that is an issue with the way you look at things. I'll tell you one thing for sure, though, nothing will change so long as you keep putting the same dickhead in office over and over with out holding him/her to account.

My point is that that staffer will go to work for ANOTHER REPUBLICAN and the same circle jerk continues. Musical chairs with the congresspeople, but the "institutational" staffers remain. I understand your point that dem staffers wont work for a republican, but it isnt like they leave DC either . . . they stay in the game.

Ohhh, I thought this was a debate on whether Rattentree conspired to keep us out of our FF playoffs with his "advice".

I believe the title of this topic is...Where were you born...and where was Obama born? So you were expecting this to morph into a conversation about government entitlements? Entitlements ie government handouts.

In a sense, yes, I did. I first wanted to see how many people would ASSUME that I was endorsing the Birthers conspiracy. Basically everybody that responded. I wanted to show that all of you that poo-poo conspiracy theories jump to conclusions without concrete evidence yourselves. You did this based on the fact that I had talked about conspiracy theories previously, but without a shred of evidence that I believed in this one.

At that point you were almost universally siding against me. A rare feat here in the Tailgate. We found something we could all agree on. Then I proceeded to give you the Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars document. While it might accurately describe what has actually happened in this country over the last half century, few are willing to take the leap and say that the document is part of some grand conspiracy. But if you read it, and I'm usre a few of you did, even the most staunch anti-conspiracy minded person must admit that there are striking similarities between the document and our recent history. But still, you remained united against the idea.

Then I posted portions of a report documenting the criminal transfer of wealth that we recently suffered. Once again, few of you are willing to make the connection between the economic "shock waves" discussed in Quiet Wars, and the current shock waves we have endured in our own economy. BUT we almost universally agree that what happened was wrong. And outside of a few people, we have a message board topic 10 pages long almost entirely devoid of partisan politics.

And that is where I wanted to end up. Until we stop this pointless debate of Republican v. Democrat, and realize the few people from either party truly represent us any more, we will continue to be bogged down in a dead end debate, with no meaningful progress.

I am not worried about trying to convince anybody to believe in conspiracy theories. I am trying to get you all to believe or at least acknowledge conspiracy facts. You don't have to imagine any horrors, they are out there in plain sight. How we got to this point is irrelevent. The fact is we are here, and we need to at least admit to ourselves that our way of life is in peril.

It would be great if we could make a grand gesture to try to worm our way out of this. People have suggested withholding income tax. That is the blood that courses through the veins of the monster that we have created. And if enough people would agree to do this, it could have a serious impact. We went to war with England over taxation without representation. I see no reason why this is not a viable strategy. Are they going to fill the jails with all the tax protesters? Would they have room? Probably not if those concentration camps conspiracy theorists talk of do not exist.

Could we protest and have a huge sit-in in Washington? Get a few million disgruntled Americans and throw the capital into gridlock? Force the government to use violence to expel us, causing a sleepy nation to actually sit up and take notice.

I don't have all the answers. Or maybe any answers. But there are a lot of pissed off people out there. Tea partiers get most of the pub - and are usually thrown in the same trash-heap as conspiracy theorists. But the fact is. We need the tea party. We need the conspiracy theorists. We need all of these disaffected pissed off people to unite and get somehting done. It will probably take someone a lot smarter that I to figure out just how to channel that energy and present a united front. But that is where we need to be headed.

The reason you don't understand any of this is because you think it is a debate. Debating is all you are interested in. Fighting with words. We can't even get EVERYONE to agree that we are being screwed. Because some of you still think I have engaged you in a fight. I'm just trying to offer an alternative to your fighting. It is called unifying against the REAL enemy. But you still aren't interested. Fight you must. So fight on brother, but I will not be your opponent.

I thought we had another John Nash on our hands looking into empty mailboxes for secret codes. He had an incredible mind.

Mike, I think I must be having a hard time finding that post you had on your vision of our future.

If you could go ahead and get that for me that would be great.

As awesome as that would be, I can't think of a way to pull this off. Most employers withhold taxes from paychecks. And you can't just go Exempt unless you can prove that you are eligible. They've created a system that doesn't allow you to protest with your wallet without landing you in jail. I don't know. Maybe we just have to start accepting that we will most likely have to do some jail time in order to fight for our liberty.

If I told you that a piece of paper was white but you said it was black. You'd say that it is indeed black and I haven't done anything to prove that it is white. I provided several links mentioning that said paper was white. Since those links don't support your theory, they don't count as evidence.

Oh, I get it. You are big Obama fan still holding on the dream? I get it. It's cool. When you come around I will be here to shake your hand and welcome you aboard.

If we are already indebted slaves, (and we most certainly are) what do we really have to lose?

Whether it was an inside job or not, the very fact that over a third of Americans believe it was an inside job speaks volumes about how our government is viewed by the people they allegedly represent.

I think it speaks volumes about that third of Americans that can't differentiate between fact and fiction.

Oh no, I'm not saying that at all. If you've read anything I've posted in the past you'll see that I believe that personal greed rules the day as far as our leaders are concerned. What's that old saying? Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I don't see a "New World Order" as the end goal of these folks, I just see them trying to line their pockets and it coming at the expense of the average American. What I refuse to do is to read more into it than is actually there.

This. And this is all there is, really. It's not some Ludlum Illuminati, it's a circle jerk of business people aggregating more wealth to themselves. It's a kind of loose aristocracy. It's wide open to view, there's no secret here.

Like I have said ad nauseum. It is no longer a secret. Call it what you will. It is there. Like a giant turd in the American punchbowl. It needs to be removed.

You have to be kidding me. Corporate America owns the media. It is corporate America with the cooperation of our spineless corrupt governernment that is raping us.

Guys, this is futile. I am trying to tell you that you can NOT count on your "legitimate media" for ANYTHING but the most basic information. Only one news network even bothered to report the wikileak documents that proved once and for all that global warming or "climate change" was nothing but a scam. That was 7 months ago. Haven't heard anything from our traditional media except lame attempts to prop up this now DEBUNKED GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY. We cannot trust our media. We cannot trust our elected officials. They no longer work for us. They work for the elite that control the country.

If the crimes committed against us in the Wall Street ponzi schemes (which are STILL legal) and the gutting of the middle class with the "bailouts" doesn't tell you what you need to know about who is really in control, probably nothing I can say will change your minds.

You need to listen to your mentor Alex Jones then read what you just typed. It's like you're in a YouTube cult or something. When you look back in 10 years you might be able to see that.
