Sour mix from scratch

The place that I bartend at makes our sour mix from scratch. I thought i'd pass on the recipe because it comes out delicious. Kid , you have to try this

 

 

1 cup of water full of ice

2 cups of water no ice

1 cup OJ

I cup Lemon Juice

I cup sugar

1 egg white

 

Put it all in a blender. Blend well and enjoy.

Egg white?? That sounds kind of disgusting in a cold drink - not cooked?? Is that healthy? What do they name this drink - salmanilla (sp?)?

You blend it in and it gives it the froth. Its fine. There are drinks where egg whites are in the ingredients like pisco sours. It isnt unheard of. The sour mix is delicious .

We used to make ours that way but didn't go through enough drinks that called for it fast enough so now sort of make it to order as called for (even though that usually means no egg white). Here's my question for you though; You blend the whole mix right from the start? I would think that would use up the frothiness of the egg whites. We just used to mix ours up and then the shaking process would froth the whites.

Sours were among my favorites back when. You'd have needed to pre-mix a batch if I were on the way. Or have plenty of Crown and Jagermeister handy.

Our signature drink is vodka with this mix so we need to blend it from the get go because they want this drink creamy when served. If people request it and the sour isnt freshly made we just pop it back in the blender for a spin and it froths up again.
