matt770
Anyone have these available in your area? They are probably the #1 thing I miss about CT. There are a few Portuguese bakeries in Bridgeport and their bread and rolls are available in most markets. The bread is similar to sourdough, but better IMO. But their rolls....light and fluffy on the inside with a nice crust on the outside, not too crisp, just a little chewy, just absolutely perfect in every way. No bread or roll is better for a sandwich, especially a greasy bacon egg & cheese. I also love them with peanut butter.
Bier Meister
have never had them. beyond egg and peanut butter, how else do they serve them up?
matt770
have never had them. beyond egg and peanut butter, how else do they serve them up? They are sold in bags of 6 or 12 in the supermarket just like kaiser rolls, and are an option for sandwiches at most restaurants and take-out places. They are great with any kind of sandwich. A decent roll seems to be a northeast thing. I've never had a good hard roll outside of CT/NY/NJ, and Portuguese rolls are unheard of.
