Grill Thermometers

Hey, you guys have any recommendations for meat thermometers for grilling?

 

All the ones I have had are slow as hell.

 

I'm not the best griller, but perfer not to kill my children with undercooked food.

I personally don't like poking holes in my meat so the only time I use a thermometer is when I'm smoking. When I'm cooking on the grill, I've done it enough so that I can tell when it's done. It's mostly by sight and feel. If you feel that you MUST know the temperature (as my SIL does) then any of the digital instant read thermometers are pretty much the best you're gonna do.

Thanks, I'm just not that good a griller yet. I've tried a bunch of the instant ones, and the instant is about 20 seconds. By that time I've lost a lot of the heat in the grill. Especially this time of year.

 

So I was hoping for a favorite brand or type from one of our restaurant owners. I appreciate your input though, thanks.

never use a thermo on the grill.... only when using oven for large pieces of meat (ie: roasts, turkeys, etc)
