T_bone65
Ummm - Both my parents smoked and mom smoked when she was pregnant with two kids. Both mom and dad smoked for the first 16 years of my life. Dad quit cold turkey first try when I was 16 mom quit on her 3rd try when I was probably 23 - neither has had a cig since and I am now 41. I have never smoked and my sister would have the occasional smoke when she was out having a few drinks. I guess my sister and I are just freaks of nature since we were both addicted from day one. I was going to say the same thing. I am the youngest of 5 and both my mother and father smoked for ever including during pregnancy. My father quit when I was around 16 my mom eventually died of emphasema(sp?) when I was 24 and she was 61. I never smoked anything other then pot, never smoked a cig my entire life. tonorator
So if there were no laws against smoking in an office setting and my company decides to allow smoking, all non-smokers should quit? Let's take it a step further, all office buildings in the state allow smoking....now all non-smokers must decide on new careers that aren't in an office environment. I don't know where the line is, but some businesses like bars, restaurants, casinos, etc. should be able to decide for themselves and then you can decide if you want to be there. overall I like the ban, but there is a point where I think it goes too far. start with a smoking club, which I would think most would have no problem with and work back. I would never make it back to an office building, but there are some layers in there where I'm ok with it.
frenzal rhomb
I never thought of 23 as middle aged. But seriously, my dad developed pulmonary fibrosis and died a long slow terrible agonizing death. Got a lung transplant at Temple Hospital and never made it home. A blod clot broke free and caused a major stroke after nearly three months post surgery. It was a bad thing to watch.
jetsfan
i still don't get that if a bar/restaurant wants to allow smoking inside, it can't do it by law. if i open my own establishment and i want to allow smoking, i should be able to, and if people don't like it, then don't come to my establishment. seems simple ... If 48 of them go to the boss and say they are walking because of the smokers, he is going to make the smokers go outside. Only in the alternate universe of the tailgate would it be the other way around
