Sugar Magnolia
Kill Alex Cross by Patterson. A fun read. This will be out as a movie, although I don't know when it will be released. One of my clients is the leading actor in the movie.
CaP'N GRuNGe
First Gaiman book. I've been thinking about reading some of his stuff for a while as alot of his books look interesting.
CaP'N GRuNGe
Enjoyed Neverwhere. Got 100 plus pages into Fever Dream by Preston & Child, still love the Pendergast storyline, but got sidetracked and ended up reading Brad Meltzer's The First Counsel. I liked that political thriller better than The Zero Game. Have to get back to Fever Dream as well as some other Preston & Child books and also back to James Rollins who kind of got me started on my reading kick a coupleyears back but havent read in a while. boltnlava
Finished all 5 RR Martin Game of Thrones books. If you're on the fence as I was- Go ahead and read them. They are fantastic. Just started the new James Rollins book. So far so good. Edited June 4, 2012 by boltnlava
CaP'N GRuNGe
Still need to finish up Fever Dream, a couple hundred pages left. Got sidetracked again with a book my parents gave me while visiting on vacation and read that in about 3 days - David Baldacci's The Innocent. My first of his and I thought it was a good read. electricrelish
Finished 2 Jonathan Franzen books back-to-back. Both are considered American masterpieces, and I couldn't agree more. Both are about American families and are written in a literary realism style that has great emotional impact, but not till the very end. Both these books are long but each of them are complete journeys worth taking. The Corrections (2001) Freedom (2010)
Chavez
Finished all 5 RR Martin Game of Thrones books. If you're on the fence as I was- Go ahead and read them. They are fantastic. Just started the new James Rollins book. So far so good. What's funny is the books totally got me thinking "I am NOT going to watch the show, because there's no way they can do it justice"; it's a chore (something like 4000 pages), but they're really good. JoJoTheWebToedBoy
Just finished Savages (just in time for the movie release). Very oddly written book, still trying to decide if I liked it or not.
Chargerz
Just started Jeff Shaara's newest book, A Blaze of Glory. It is a historical novel covering the Civil War along the Mississippi River and featuring the Battle of Shiloh. Great read!!
Scooby
of course the 50 Shades books:))) I would call those brain candy for the ladies, not technically awesome, but fun to read lol!! finally getting around to reading The Host, so far I like it, and it will be released as a movie at some point. Is Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter good? Movie doesnt look promising, but maybe the book? Also, The Innocents by David Baldacci? Thinking of getting that one for my beach read next month..TIA for suggestions:))

Square
of course the 50 Shades books:))) I would call those brain candy for the ladies, not technically awesome, but fun to read lol!! Brain candy? Interesting take. My wife has been reading that series, but the bits and parts I've picked up or read seemed pretty lame. I suppose I should know I'm not the target audience for something that started out as Twilight fanfiction.

My wife picked up 50 shades just to have something to read by the pool and she said it was stupid and she couldn't get into it. This from a woman addicted to Real Housewives. Square
My wife picked up 50 shades just to have something to read by the pool and she said it was stupid and she couldn't get into it. This from a woman addicted to Real Housewives. My wife gets sucked into that chit too (so obviously no offense intended) but that would probably be the target audience. For the most part it just seemed like schtick. Some billionaire that is so good looking they compare it to trying to look at the face of god, is into some kink, and takes interest in an awkward 20 year old(ish) virgin. The bits I picked up from there just seemed like the same crap you find in a grocery store aisle with some fabio dressed as a pirate with his shirt off on the cover. Basically the "heavy" parts just seemed like chic porn. Which I'm fine with, I'm just not going to act like it's high reading. It's like all the 30 something married chicks I know are getting a thrill by reading smut out in public because now you can have it on a kindle or smart phone. CaP'N GRuNGe
Finished up Fever Dream. Then read Along Came a Spider by James Patterson. Ok storyline though Patterson's dialogue is almost painful. My first of his. Read a free ebook by Paul Maier called The Constantine Codex. Not a great writer but the story was interesting, especially the sprinklings of religious history. Just finished Preston and Child's Cold Vengeance today. What a great series! Ready for Two Graves when its released in December. Pendergast is a great character. About 150 pages into Ice Hunt by James Rollins. Good story. And Chavez I picked up Anansi Boys as the ebook was marked down. Always looking for specials on the ebooks... REZ
I read Patterson a couple times. Good plots but awful writer. Finishing up Demilles the lion right now. Not as good as his past books. Last Couple books I've read were John Sandford prey series (love them) and the Lee child reacher book that the upcoming movie is based on. Wanted to like it but struggled through it. SheikYerbuti
I'm embarrassed how long it's taking me, but I'm in the middle of "Investment Biker" by Jim Rodgers. He's a famous commodities trader and motorcycle enthusiast. He motorcycled around the world in the 1980's and wrote about it from the standpoint of an investor and political observer. Interesting read although finding time to read is tough lately.
lkirc
Reading KIll Shot by Vince Flynn right now. It is not grabbing me like most of the Rapp books, but I will see it through. Then on to Gideon's Corpse by Child and Preston. i wasn't crazy about the first Gideon book, but these guys are such good writers, I am confident they will ramp it up. If you haven't read Child and Preston before, you need to read them all.

flemingd
I picked up Ready Player One as was recommended here and liked the first 30 pages so far. Written by a friend of mine. Good read. I keep swearing to get going on Game of Thrones but never do - maybe this year. Another annual re-reading of Slaughterhouse Five is first though.
