keggerz
https://twitter.com/...636219977170944 Update: NFL Sources: LB Lofa Tatupu has signed a two-year deal for a maximum value of $5.75 million with the Atlanta Falcons. Time to read the tea leaves... Sure to be some ripple effects from the signing... 1. Lofton will most likely not be a Falcon this coming year. 2. Sean Weatherspoon looks to increase on what was an already fantastic 2011 3. Akeem Dent moves to "sleeper" status...wouldn't be surprised if he starts year as a starting LB, with Tatupu in a reserve role. Tford
No link just yet but word has it that the Falcons have resigned Mike Peterson. I don't think this is a threat to Akeem Dent's chances at the Falcons Mike job but rather an indictment on the severity of Tatupu's injury. Peterson will probably back up all three starters in Atlanta again this year.

delusions of grandeur
Now official: Tatupu is out for the year Always loved watching Tatupu play and was really hoping he could rebound his career here. I really hope Lofton doesn't become this years Harvey Dahl, both looking like bigger losses than expected. Dent wasn't one of my favorite Bulldogs, but was pretty solid and will no doubt get a good opportunity with the lack of depth at linebacker (and make no mistake, all Peterson is at this stage of his career is depth). Bronco Billy
Dent sustained a head injury on punt coverage last night. Next?
Tford
Mike Peterson is running first team defense at Mike. It's not his first Mike job as he used to play Mike in Jacksonville. However, Peterson doesn't have the legs he used to and the Falcons coaching staff knows it. I think Dent is still the guy to win this job as his prognosis looks ok according to recent reports. If Dent takes a turn for the worse, I think the Falcons grab a UFA to step in.
