Watching a bit, my 6 year old likes rooting for USA, literally every point in volley ball he's going nuts, kind of fun to see actually

Opening ceremonies my wife and I were more moved/entertained by a few of the more well done commercials than we were the actual ceremony

I watch a lot of it. For a lot of reasons.

The sacrifice these athletes make, the stories of where they came from, how hard they work for a medal. And when I see the pics of the parents when their child wins a medal...oh man. I'll admit it...I cry with them.

I'll watch virtually any event during the Olympics, both summer and winter. Love the hell out of it. In fact, I think the only event that I ditched almost immediately was Dressage. Caught about 20 seconds of some dude trotting around with a horse and being told by the commentators about how the "energy was electric!". Um, no thanks.

Other than that, screw it, I'm watching. indoor VB, beach, swimming, water polo, soccer, field hockey... whatever, I'm down. Mind you, for the exact reason that being glued to World Cup or Euro Cup soccer has never translated into me caring at all about MLS or what not, the second this is over...

Glad to see the men's cycling road race was won by a breakaway and, in particular by a very cool vet riding in what he said was going to be his last race. In a race of the magnitude of the Olympics, I'd prefer it not come down to the sprinters. I find it rather pointless to just have the dudes ride en masse for upwards of 6 hours, only to have some sprint specialists duel it out at the end.

Actually dug the opening ceremonies.

Anyone kinda mad that NBC has exclusive rights to these events and doesn't show them live. I mean the opening ceremonies and all the swimming events they save for primetime even though they've happened like 5 hours ago.

Maybe it's just me, but in this day and age of technology I already know the results of these events and by the time the are on TV tape delayed I don't even want to watch them cause I know the results.

I realize that you're not alone in your opinion. I'll just say that it doesn't much bother me that much.
