detlef
A buddy of mine is getting married and wanted to go deep sea fishing for his bachelor party. I'd never been but had a hook-up with a kid who used to work for me and had since moved out to the coast to work fishing charters. Drank a bit too much and stayed up a bit too late the night before, so I got off to a rough start. But once I yakked over the side of the boat and took a little nap, I was right as rain. It was a light day most of the day, got a run of mahi early on and each of us got one, then we fished a wreck for some tile fish and, again, we each got a couple. But that was looking like it was going to be it. Tried to get something big but with no luck. Then the Cpt. got word of a random piece of plywood that was floating out at sea and took us over to it. Amazing, really, because it was way the hell out there. At any rate, apparently there was a bunch of mahi hanging out under it. Then it was freaking on! We were catching fish as fast as the mate could box 'em up and we could re-bait. Just slayin' em! Made some tilefish ceviche and fried up some mahi last night. That's some good eating! We're going to go back for an over-night trip and try for some sword next time. http://instagram.com/p/N7JicGkhVR/

detlef
was there a pot for biggest fish? Nope. I got the biggest tile fish, another guy got the biggest mahi.
