Chavez
None of these should get in. What we ought to be doing is voting out the hacks already in. I'm all for it, so long as we start with Wenner.
detlef
Meh...it's really the only game in town. Probably sounded better than the music hall of fame. Then no Motown artists etc... This is how I feel. "Popular Music HoF"? Sports is easy. We don't need to debate whether or not Mantle was a baseball player. It's the sport he played. But can you imagine the arguments that would crop up if they got all strict on genre? Sure, some would be easy, but not others. Hell, depending on who you talk to, Rock and Roll is a particular subset of Rock, so you could make an argument that Heavy Metal, punk, Acid Rock or other versions of Rock would also not qualify. In other words, if you're not playing something very rooted in the style that emerged in the 50s, you're not actually playing "rock and roll". It's why the Stones have been referred to as the greatest Rock and Roll band (not saying you have to agree with the greatest part of that, but it does bear mention that they're called a rock and roll band, and not a rock band). Because, at least until they went disco, they were just that. They were playing actual rock and roll, not just rock.
