JAX just passed on them all again - see told you they should not give up on Gabbert ;)

WR Allen and Damontre Moore 2 big names some said would go 1st still out there among others

lol - Hugh is good value there though there remains some serious (at least according to the "experts") D talent still sitting there.

And Barkley, Wilson and Nassib all falling to 4th? Wow. If JAX passes on these guys again in the 4th that's even dumber than those hideous uni changes.

So the Colts took a 320 pound OG and his name is HUGH.

Just read the scouting report on this guy. "Some analysts project him as high as the 5th round." Don't know much about the guy and can't find a lot about him (looking for some video) but seems like a reach here when they could have bettered themselves by continuing to "Build the Monster".

I saw him with grades between 4th-5th round

The lessons of the recent past sinking in and they are getting gun shy. Teams waste a pick on a QB that's not "elite" (Cleveland (twice lol), Philly (also twice, wow), Carolina, Dallas, Green Bay) and now they are carrying a QB they don't like and can't move for a dime when they could have had a contributing position player instead.

Honestly, Barkley is the only one that surprises me. The others I felt like were the results of the media hyping them to fill the void. All these experts are trying to create "need" at QB for teams like OAK, ARI, and JAX, but the QB class was pretty much ordinary so it left them creating "value" at the position that didn't exist. All of those teams see that the guys on the board are pretty much just retreads of the QB they already have on their roster - so why waste a 3rd rounder when you might hit on Jamal Charles or could snag Aaron Hernandez in the 4th. Even the Geno Smith for Sanchez wasn't exactly a huge upgrade - his real value is that his name isn't Sanchez. Any QB would have done that job.

QB is no longer a position you draft, sit, and coach up for a couple of years to develop. If he's not an immediate impact, they aren't investing in them, they would rather take a slot corner with return skills that might see the field this season. Too many of them get coaches and GM's fired - it takes a secure man these days to take a mid-round QB you don't intend to start right now. Teams are building the rest of the team up first and seeing if they can't make that reclamation (Gabbert, Palmer, Flynn) work first.

About time somebody woke up and realized.

Ted Thompson is competing with good teams that use free agency a lot more than he does, especially SF.This makes using only the draft pretty tough.

He has moved down a lot this year gaining a lot of late picks.

His history in the 5th-7th round is pretty good though- including these guys.

Flynn-Crosby-Bishop-Newhouse-Starks-DJ Smith-Terrell Manning-DJ Williams-Ryan Taylor -Quarles.

From what I've read he was an athletic OT who has very good feet sliding in pass protection and uses his hands very well. However, here's the issue with him. He had a shoulder issue last year and some are still leery about it and he has short arms which is going to cause him to move inside as a guard. The problem with a move inside is that the knock on his is that he's a bit underpowered when it comes to run-blocking. He could play RT but will probably be best suited at guard for a finesse team.
