lb7222
How's it going guys. I'm 23 and do not know how to play football. I want to learn how to play so I can have stuff in common with the friends of mine who do actually play sports, and with future classmates, coworkers, etc.. Getting hammered and watching the superbowl, and going to my university's games, has always been fun. I figure if I know what I'm watching I'd maybe get interested in it. Some background - grew up surfing, snowboarding, and going to the desert every other weekend with the dirtbikes. Did those three things in high school a lot, never played any sports. Pops never really watched sports, was always working. Went to college and half my friends watched sports and the other half didn't. I'm a law student right now and pretty busy, but would like to learn this on the side so I can attend games and actually know what the truck I'm watching. My good buddy who was varsity everything always laughs since I don't know jack honda about sports but when we drink ourselves to near blackout I enjoy watching them so it's always a good time. Where do I get started?
Donutrun Jellies
You could fake a birth certificate online, sign up for Pop Warner football, pay attention to your coaches, dominate the youth leagues, become a YouTube sensation, sign with the Deion Sanders Prime Time Academy, have the truth leak out in a scandal, go on Dr Phil and talk about your childhood, and then struggle through a C-list celebrity reality TV career while continuing your current hobby of drinking yourself to near blackout with friends ... Or, you could google football and start reading and watching instructional videos .. here's a good place to start: http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/beginnersguidetofootball Good luck with it .. and Law School. Donutrun Jellies
Pizza is likely another good way to learn. Find a friend who knows the game. Trade him/her a pizza for agreeing to pick a game that his/her favorite team is not in (so he/she can explain, rather than root). Watch the game together with your friend giving a running commentary of what is happening and why ... Ask lots of questions as this is your learning lab and your pizza buying agreement earns you the right to talk through the game.
lb7222
Watched today's game seahawks vs chargers and another game yesterday (college), not nearly as difficult as I thought. Good stuf.. I enjoy watching it! Thanks for the informative links. Edited September 15, 2014 by lb7222
