Draft Strategy - 2 QB League

Recommended Posts

I came in 3rd last year after winning the league the year before. However, I feel like my strategy has been flawed. This year, I'm looking to employ a new strategy. In the past, I have focused on getting the top RBs because there are only a select few RBs that shoulder the majority of carries anymore. Now with almost all backfields being RBBC, I want to shift my focus away from that position. I am drafting 7th overall out of 10 teams. With it being a 2 QB league, QBs of course dominate the scoring for the week. It is also a PPR league, so WRs/TEs usually do pretty well too. RBs do well if they catch the ball, but otherwise are TD dependent. I normally only draft 3 QBs, with the 3rd being a BYE filler. QBs can tend to slip with most people focusing on the top WRs/RBs/TEs.

I am thinking about grabbing 4 of the top QBs, 2 top receivers, and a top TE, while ignoring the RB position for the most part. For RBs, I'd focus on pass catchers in the later rounds.

What are people's thoughts?

7th id go Beckham or Julio (AB wont be around then)

14th id go Carr or Rodgers if they are available if not Luck

27th id go Cooper, M. Thomas, Hilton or Cooks (the other option is to go QB here, you could get Luck, Carr, Ryan or Newton here)

34th  If you went WR in the 3rd, scoop up Cousins, WIlson, Big Ben or wait until 5th and go WR here and scoop up either Mariota, Winston or Prescott in the 5th (personally there are still usually quality WR in the 4th and Cousins Wilson or Big Ben aren't huge upgrades to Winston Mariota or Prescott)

So id go WR, QB, WR, WR, QB but know in the 6th and 7th you aren't going to have much options at RB and will be limited to at best, Lynch, Hyde, Blount,

Look at some sample mock drafts with as many humans drafting as possible

I appreciate this very much. Definitely confirms that a strategy switch should work and be a good thing.

By the time I'm ready to focus on RBs, I have some PPR targets that others won't necessarily snag I don't think that early. Duke Johnson, Theo Riddick, Christian McCaffrey, etc.
