GooseGooseGooseGoose
HI all, I inherited a team from a guy who dropped out of the league. I have the option to keep a player from has roster from last year if I choose (everyone has the same option for their own team too). Currently 10 team league -- potentially could become 12 by the time we draft. Scoring is standard with a normal lineup using a wr/rb/te flex. My team from last year is as follows (with round drafted in parentheses). If I choose to keep a player I forfeit the round they were chosen in last year, but if I choose to keep my first rounder I also forfeit my 6th round pick and regain a pick to fill my roster at the end of the draft. Antonio Brown (1) LeSean McCoy (2) Cam Newton (3) Julian Edelman (4) Latavius Murray (5) Matt Jones (6) James White (7) Marvin Jones Jr. (8) Rashad Jennings (9) Jimmy Graham (10) Martellus Bennett (11) Tajae Sharpe (12) Minnesota (13) Chandler Catanzaro (14) Charles Johnson (15) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning in a direction at this point, but would like to hear other opinions to get a feel for what others might do.
Big Country
Seems like McCoy is the only one even worth considering. Brown is nice, but I'm not forfeiting a 6th rounder as well to keep him when I can just as likely draft him (or a comparable player) and still have my 1st rounder. If you're comfortable with McCoy, he's decent value in the 2nd round - his ADP is in the 8-10 range as the 3-5 RB off the board, but he comes with a lot of red flags, mostly due to the team around him. I'm torn between keeping McCoy or suggesting just not keeping anyone.
GooseGooseGooseGoose
My thinking has been along those same lines. I'm leaning towards not keeping any of them, because McCoy worries me. I have to choose my keeper before we pick draft order, so if I were to keep him and get a low first round pick I'd be disappointed having to lose my early second when I could probably get more value from that spot. My only other thought would be potentially keeping Jimmy Graham or Martellus Bennett. Seems like pretty good value for either of them by only having to give up a 10th or 11th round pick, when they seem to be going quite a bit earlier than that in most drafts. Big Country
I wouldn't fault you for something like that with Graham being the one I would opt to keep of the two. In fact, I thnk I could easily start to thnk that it is the best move to make if you want to lock up a player offering some value. My only concern would be if you get an early first and then Gronk is still there late 2nd or even early 3rd, do you pass on him because you already have a TE locked up? Same with Kelce and if you have a later 3rd and he is sitting there screaming value pick. Granted a small worry.
