Outshined
USA already lost to Canada and play Russia here tonight at the 'X'. Should be a good game. Might be the only taste of Hockey for a while, sounds like a there will be a lockout this year. The owners want a 31 million salary cap. Its like the all star game with checking. I think Gretzky is coaching Canada.
LegFuJohnson
Is he the coach? I knew he was the GM. But that USA vs Canada game was fantastic. Guys on the same NHL team mixing it up with each other. I'm not sure I'd like it if I was their NHL GM or owner, but I guess I wouldn't worry about it, since there isn't really going to be a season. I knew he was the GM. 384307 I didn't see the 1st game, I just saw a highlight and he was in the bench????? Thought maybe he was coaching. LegFuJohnson
He might be. Although... "Hey Mario Lemeiux, go score a goal!" "Marty Brodeur, make a save" How hard is that?
Pack Mentality
The USA looked alright against Canada but came out really flat vs. Russia. IIRC this is the first time since the Miracle on Ice that the Soviets/Russians have beaten the USA in hockey on American ice. And the USA won't even have much of a home ice advantage tomorrow night against Slovakia in St. Paul, because you can bet the locals will be cheering for Slovakia's Marian Gaborik (who plays for the Wild). LegFuJohnson
What I don't know... is why are their only 8 teams in the tourney? I mean, the players are playing hard, they aren't mailing anything in or anything, but you can lose all three of these first games, and then you start the Quarter Finals. They can't... at the very least, get 10 teams? or 12? Would it make the tournament that much longer? A week at the most.
Hugh 0ne
Goodenow (the devil) aka the NHLPA have had 3 straight days of labor talks. Not sure what it means, but if they're talking it's probably a good sign. I am going to kill myself if there's a labor stoppage and no hockey this winter. As far as the world cup goes, did you see that Kovalev goal? Sweet. The US has not looked great, but they're in a tough group, and I think they'll start to gel. They have the talent. LegFuJohnson
Based on that interview he had with Gary Thorne, I didn't hear any good. Can't always believe one side, but he made it sound like every thing the owners proposed was a salary cap... and if that's the case, nothing is going to happen. Hugh 0ne
Good win for the US last night. They looked sharp, for the first time in the tournament. They will next play Finland, and if they can pull that off it's on to the finals. Maybe a U.S. - Kanaduh showdown. Good stuff. Lord, please don't let this be the only hockey I'll be watching this year.
chester
I've been to every game. It's been fun. I've partied with Russians and Slovaks after the games! (Even traded spamshirts - my Wild jersey for a Slovakian Gaborik jersey) Looking forward to the USA - Finland game!

Even if there isn't the women, I love to buy Europeans some cocktails. They always return the favor!

chester
Maybe you can teach the USA how to score :hoppingmad: 404854 That was just bad. Didn't see too many Fins, but partied with a bunch of Canadians. All of the games were fun, but I'm very dissappointed that the arena was never full.
