2018 Keeper help

Recommended Posts

# of teams and number of required starters?

Do you know what pick you have?

Absent that information, solid arguments could be made for all 3. All are coming off of injuries of some sort but appear to be back to health. Beckham may well be the safest....if it was a safe bet that he doesn't hold out. Lack of PPR also hurts Beckham.

Cook and Freeman are pretty close - Cook probably has a bit more upside and is 3 years younger than Freeman. Freeman has declined a bit since being the top overall back a few years back, but is still a threat and near lock to be in the top 10, I just don't see top 3 potential with him this year. I prefer to grab the higher upside, so would lean Cook over Freeman in comparing the RBs

So for me it's down to Cook and Beckham. As mentioned, no PPR hurts Beckham a bit. If it's a 2RB/2WR league, I think Cook is definitely the pick, as the equal number of required starters and lack of PPR pushes up the RB value. If it's a more flex based or WR heavy lineup (either 1/3 or 1/2 with a couple flexes, something like that), than a stronger argument could be made for Beckham as the higher number of required WRs compared to RBs pushed up the WR value, and at that point you have to consider who else is likely to be kept and what kind of players are most likely to be available to you in the draft.

Could be tempted by Cook in a start 2 RB/WR lineup league, but would favor OBJ especially if keeper does not take up a pick in the draft.  Would also advise trying to trade for pick bumps.
