Team Defenses typical scoring

Questions about typical scoring setup.

I'm setting up a new league for some friends that are beginners (using MFL).  It has been decades since I used team defenses.

Can someone post your typical scoring for team defenses?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd say most common is 2 pts for turnover recovery, 1 pt sack, 2 pts safety, all TDs = 6 pts. Shutouts = 6 pts

But there is a big variation. Can have pts for thresholds on holding down opponents score ie. shutout = 6 pts, 1-6 pts = 4 pts. 7-13 = 2 pts

Some use 2 pt sacks. Or 5 pts safeties.

I'd say 2 pts for turnover recovery, 1 pt sack, 2 pts safety, all TDs = 6 pts. Shutouts = 6 pts is the most common

Thank you so much DMD!

I was overthinking that tackles needed to be added like in IDP, but that would put team defense scoring to be more than the skilled positions.

I'm assuming that return yds and TDs also go with Team Defense?  Or is it separate?

Right - any punt or kick return, fumble or interception is credited to the Team Defense. But an offensive fumble lost that is later recovered for a TD is not a defense TD. The defense or special teams unit has to be on the field.

I like FFPC rules for team DF make them count not just some low ball position that doesn't matter.  FFPC gets it right.

12 pts shutout

8 pts for holding a team to 2-6 pts

5 pts for holding a team to 7-10 pts

2 pts for turnover

1 per sack

6 TD
