If I place him on IR to free up a taxi spot for another player, will I be able to designate Scott back to taxi next year? And if so, I assume this year counts against his 3 year limit? Taxi squad players are not really eligible for IR. The IR rule only gives you roster space relief and one salary cap year. Someone who does not have a contract does not factor into that.
