True I am by no means a Browns fan but it would be nice to see them be competitive. I do like watching Mayfield play. IMO, it wouldn't surprise me if he has the "it" factor. What gives you the impression that he is even capable of thinking? Wait! I take it back, I see what he's doing. GIven his roughly 2 YPC average, he's just pointing out that he runs like sh##. Anyway While it might sound logical on the surface (play the "safer" vet, let the rook watch and learn etc), it didn't make sense to start him over Mayfield. Ever. Let the rook take his lumps and learn. Given his superior passing ability, he's not likely to lose you more games than Taylor even with the rook mistakes (and it's not like they're exactly SB bound this year anyway).
