ARTICLE EIGHT: Rosters

8.1 Each team can carry up to 20 players, plus 4 IR slots.
8.2 The IR slots are reserved for players put on IR or PUP by their NFL teams.
8.2.1 Once a PUP player is placed on the NFL team's regular roster, he must be removed from an IR slot. Rule 8.3 applies if he remains on IR.
8.3 An owner will be fielding an illegal team if it holds a player on IR that is not determined to be injured by the NFL, and as such will forfeit his game if he has 21 or more players on his roster.

1 RB
2 WR
1 TE

8.5.3 Starting too few players by leaving positions empty will not be allowed and the software is set not to allow a lineup submission of this type.
8.6 Starting lineups are due for game time of each player's game. If a lineup is not submitted, the previous week’s starting lineup will be used. (Except for week 1, which will result in a forfeit.)

9.3 Special teams rule:
9.3.1 A play is considered to be a special teams play if a kicker or a punter is on the field (except for point after touchdown play). If a touchdown is scored in that play, 6 points will go to the team D/ST scoring the TD and to the player scoring the TD. If this is a passing TD, 4 points will also go to the player passing the TD pass.

ARTICLE TEN: Tie Games
If a match-up ends in a tie:
10.1 For regular season games, the result will be a tie (½ win & ½ loss) for your record.
10.2 For playoff games, 0.01 point will be added to the score of the team with the better seed. (“Home-field advantage”)

ARTICLE ELEVEN: Waivers/Free Agency

11.1 Franchises can submit blind-bid waiver wire requests to the league web site by Wednesday evening at 8pm ET. Waivers will run at 8pm ET.
11.2.1 Each team will have an annual budget of 1000 pieces of eight for blind bidding. Leftover pieces of eight will not carry over into the next season.
11.2.2 Waivers will be granted to the high bidder. In case of a tie bid, the team with the worst record will receive the player.
11.3 Minimum bid is 10 pieces of eight.
11.4 The league site will determine who is awarded each player and the time it occurs (usually Wednesday night around 8pm ET or shortly thereafter)
11.5 For the remainder of the week, waiver pickups are first come, first served and will be processed immediately by the web site. (Except for players recently waived, who will have a 48-hour wait from the time waived to be picked up).
11.5.1 FCFS players will cost 10 pieces of eight each.
11.6 FA ends on gametime of each player's on Sunday, but players on games prior to Sunday are frozen at gametime on their games
11.7 If a waiver player is claimed, a roster player must be dropped or put on IR.
11.8 Once a player or team defense is picked up by waivers or free agency, he may not be cut by the same team until the following week. Exception: If the player is injured (questionable, doubtful, out on the IR on the player's team official injury report), you may cut him during the same week you pick him up.
11.9 Waivers will begin on the first Tuesday following the end of the draft.

ARTICLE TWELVE: The Draft

Th’ league be a pure redraft league.  There will be 2 concurrent drafts held with 2 distinct player pools- one for th’ Pearl and another pool of players for Th’ Dutchman.

12.1 Both of the 2022 drafts (one for Th’ Black Pearl and one Th’ Flying Dutchman) will start on August 22 at 9am ET. The order will be based on dice rolls from each team taken before the draft at http://www.cyrnus.com/cgi-bin/rollem.cgi
12.2 Pick order will be serpentine with 1st team in round 1 picking last in round 2, 2nd team in round 1 picking second to last in round 2, etc.
12.3 Draft picks may be traded for the current season only. The deadline for trading draft picks is 1 hour prior to the start of the draft.
12.4 There will be 20 rounds.
12.5 The time limit for drafting players is 8 hours, with the clock stopped from 12am ET to 8am ET. If you exceed that limit, it becomes the next player’s turn, and his time limit will start immediately. You may still select your draft pick anytime after, but anyone whose turn it is may jump in ahead of you.
12.6 If at the time of the draft, the number of players plus draft picks you have is greater than 20, you will forfeit draft pick(s), starting from your last pick, until that number equals 20.
12.7 If at the time of the draft, the number of players plus draft picks you have is less than 20, you will be given extra draft pick(s) at the end of the draft, until that number equals 20. If more than 1 team needs extra pick(s), the order will be 1 round per team, with draft order snaking as with other rounds.
12.8 The draft will be held using www.myfantasyleague.com

ARTICLE THIRTEEN: Mid-Season PlundARRRRR and Post-Season Pillage

Mid-season Plunder (to occur after Week 8

13.1 There will be two concurrent plundarrrrrrs.  One will take place on The Pearl and one on The Dutchman.  Teams may only plundarrrrrr from teams on their own ship (i.e. teams in The Pearl cannot plundarrrrrr from teams on The Dutchman).
13.2 Each team would be allowed to draft one player off of a fellow league mates roster.
13.3 Each team would be able to designate four players as "Hidden Treasure", thus protecting those players from being chosen in the Plunder Draft.
13.4 Each team could lose only a maximum of one player. After a player has been taken off of that roster, all other players would be off limits.
13.5 A team can be plundered only once, whether that plunder is successful or not.
13.6 A player that has been plundered once cannot be plundered a second time.
13.7 Teams will not reveal who their "Hidden Treasures" are. If a team attempts to plunder another team and chooses a protected player, they will not receive that player and their choice is forfeit. They will not receive a second choice.
13.8 The order of the plunder draft would be worst team to best team after Week 8.
13.9 All player positions may be plundered.
13.10 A team may choose to forego plundering when their draft position comes around. The effect would be to freeze their entire roster from being plundered by any teams choosing after them.

Post-Season Pillage (to occur after Week 15)

13.11 There will be two concurrent pillages.  One will take place on The Pearl and one on The Dutchman.  Teams may only pillage from teams on their own ship (i.e. teams in The Pearl cannot plundarrrrrr from teams on The Dutchman).
13.12 Each team in the championship playoff bracket would be allowed to pillage up to 3 players off any team's roster not in the league's championship playoff bracket but may have a player pillaged from them should they hit The Kraken.
13.13 Each team not in the league's championship playoff bracket would be able to designate one player as "The Kraken.”  Each team in the championship playoffs may in turn designate one of their players as “The Captain.” Any team that selects The Kraken can no longer choose any further players off a given team and will have points deducted from their point total in the playoffs. Furthermore, the team that selected The Kraken will forfeit any players they pillaged back to the team from which they were pillaged AND may now have a player pillaged from them by the team it was formerly pillaging.
13.14 Each non-playoff team could lose up to three players. After three players have been taken off of that roster, all other players would be off limits.  The raiding playoff teams may lose no more than one player if they happen to select The Kraken.
13.15 A team can be pillaged by only one team, whether that team is successful or not. A player that has been pillaged once cannot be pillaged a second time.
13.16 Teams will not reveal who their "Kraken" is nor who their Captain is.  Those players are to be submitted before the pillage via email to a non-partisan privateer designated by the league Cap’n.. If a team attempts to pillage another team and chooses their protected player (aka The Kraken), they will not receive that player and their choice(s) is/are forfeit. They will also forfeit any players they pillaged back to the team from which they were pillaged. They will not receive any further choices.
13.17 Once The Kraken is chosen, the team on which The Kraken was picked may then in turn choose to pillage a player from the playoff team it was formerly being pillaged by.  Should The Captain be selected by the non-playoff team, it will receive no player as The Captain, and only The Captain, have life boat privileges.  Otherwise, selected player will move from the playoff team to the non-playoff team and the pillage completed for both teams.
13.18 The order of the pillage draft would be highest ranked championship playoff team to lowest ranked championship playoff team.
13.19 All player positions may be pillaged.
13.20 A team may choose to forego pillaging when their draft position comes around. The effect would be to take an automatic -6 against their points scored in their first playoff game.
13.21 Teams may also opt-out of the pillage after making their first attempt.  If a team wants to quit their pillage after successfully pillaging a player, they will take a -4 in their first playoff game.  Furthermore, if a team wants to quit their pillage after successfully pillaging two players, they will take a -2 in their first playoff game.
13.22 Penalties for selecting “The Kraken”

First attempt = -5 in team's first playoff game
Second attempt = -3 in team's first playoff game
Third attempt = -1 in team's first playoff game

If a team successfully pillages 3 players from another team, there will be no penalty incurred by that team.

13.23 If The Kraken is selected on a non-playoff team, that team MUST then make a pillage attempt on the raiding playoff team.  The Kraken is always hungry and gives no quarter.

ARTICLE FOURTEEN: Th’ Battle of The Boats

14.1 Week 8 shall be The Battle of the Boats pitting  teams in th’ Pearl against teams in th’ Dutchman.
14.2  Matchups will be 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 7v7 and 8v8.
14.3 The league that gets more wins overall will win the Battle.
14.3.1 The first tie-breaker shall be most points scored by winning teams in each league.
14.3.2 The second tie-breaker shall be most points scored by all teams in each league.
14.4 Th’ winnin’ teams on the winnin’ ship shall have $100 pieces of eight added to their free agent $ balance.
14.5 Th’ Losin’ teams on the losin’ ship shall have $100 pieces of eight deducted from their free agent $ balance.

ARTICLE FIFTEEN: Co-Owners

15.1 Individual franchises may have 2 co-owners. If a team uses this option, this team still acts as one team and one vote for all voting matters. Any official decisions made or posted by one of the owners may not be negated by the other owner of that team.

ARTICLE SIXTEEN: Absentee Owners

16.1  Team owners are expected to check into the league board periodically during the off-season, in order to confirm that they wish to remain in the league, discuss and vote on any rule changes, and any other issues that might occur.
16.2  If you do not confirm your status in the league, e-mails will be sent to your registered e-mail account. If you do not respond by July 15, you will be dropped by the league and a replacement owner will be invited to join the league.
16.3  If a confirmed team owner stops checking in, he will receive an e-mail, checking to re-confirm his status. If there is no response by 7 days prior to the draft, he may be dropped in order to give enough time to find a replacement owner.
16.4  All team owners are expected to remain active during the season. If you are going to be away for a while or might be absent, please indicate to the league of this and when you expect to return. Seeking out and using a temporary team owner during your absence will be encouraged.
16.4.1  If you are absent without explanation and the lineup carried over if less than fully competitive due to starting an injured or bye-week player, the commissioner will track to see if you have returned and if you are still absent and had not been active for over 1 week, the commissioner will adjust the lineup to a best lineup (by using Fantasy Pros weekly player rankings), except when facing the commish the rest of the league will solely determine the lineup. If a league member believes a "best lineup" was not submitted by the commish, he can post an objection then the league can submit a consensus "best lineup".
16.4.2  If you are still absent without explanation for 4 weeks and made no visit to the league site, the commish will seek out a replacement owner starting out with the waiting list. Once the replacement owner is found, he will take over the team and be the sole owner. No refunds will be given in this case and any winnings will go to the new owner. If no replacement is found by the following weekend, the commish will still set the lineup as discussed in the previous paragraph until a new owner is found.

ARTICLE SEVENTEEN: Replacement owners:

17.1  If an owner withdraws or is absent too long (per league rules), replacement owner(s) will be sought.
17.2  A waiting list is established and replacement owners will be chosen from there first.
17.3  If time permits, a vote of prospective will be taken by e-mail.  If pressed for time, the commish will select a new owner starting from the top of the waiting list.
17.4.1  If there is 1 replacement owner, that team will take over the open team.
17.4.2  If there are multiple owners, a dice roll will determine the placement of the new owners.
17.5  An existing owner may not switch to an open team.

ARTICLE EIGHTEEN: Team Naming Conventions

18.1 Since we are trying to create a fun Swashbuckling experience for everyone, the name should start with a geographic location (city, state, or area), followed by a pirate-themed nickname (ex's- San Dimas Swashbucklers, Beaverton Barrel Riders, Tortuga Pieces of Eight, River Vale Raiders, etc). Don’t (the really bad word) up yarrrr name or th’ cap‘n be makin’ ya walk the plank!

ARTICLE NINETEEN: Rule Changes

19.1 Rule changes can be proposed by any pirate in Black Sails at any time during the yeARRRRRR.
19.2 Rule change proposals shall be collated by the commish in July of each year and voted upon by th’ league in the month before the draft.
19.3 For a rule change to pass it must receive yes votes from over 50% of all league members who voted.
19.3.1 A minimum of 12 owners must vote for a rule change to pass.

W/ respect to Article 8 - Trades

May a team trade for a player using blind bidding dollars (pieces of eight) or a player plus blond bidding dollars?
