If he were going to retire he could just retire and take a broadcasting job he didn't need to part ways. I'm sure he'll get some appealing offers, and the Pats would make sense. Not sure if he becomes a free agent now, or has to go thru some waivers process. (Probably to be determined later, depending on when the Panthers release him.)
