God you guys have good memories.  You still don't have it quite right, though.

Either of you smart guys remember who named me Brainy Smurf?

My original name wasn't even my worst mistake, though.  It was the time I posted a porn video of a woman who looked like my wife.  Then some wiseacre started reposting it for newbies and saying it was my wife.  I should say ex-wife, we're divorced now.  She turned out to be a psycho.  Funny, she never told me when we got engaged.

You guys were allowed to post pron? Man times were good back then. I got banned for three days for my bored at work threads. BTW, good use of the term wiseacre. For some reason I laughed.

I was thinking Grid myself.  Or Bumbo.  Don't think BR had that kind of wit.

I wouldn't say we were allowed to post porn.  It was taken off pretty quick.  But they didn't shut us down for it.

You are likely right about BR ... the fact that he had the hots for a certainly older red haired woman lends credence to the theory that his wits were fried shortly after he lost his hair.

About the same for me. I remember looking forward to Wed when the projections came out - for free !

Didn't use the message boards much until the last few years.

Skippy, BC and Roland are about the only names I recall from 1997. There were a few others but it is late.

I was there/here. <sniff> <sniff>

I remember a time when member numbers were reserved.

Recall the House of Riff (or Riff's Place)?

You guys "saved" the grand opening of the new board (June 1st) until after a few of us QA'ed the new site (May 27th)...

House of Riff attendees:

Dorey tossing salad in a massage recliner, the bathroom incident, and break dancing

Riffraff's beanbag chair, video collection, and dart board

Skippy's Dart Swinger insurance policy and the Kitna football

Muck's fashionably late and loves the kitchen beads

Heck, that was one of the few times Whitney actually hung out and chatted some.

Back in the day.. I was the breaking news guy.

The blogger to start all bloggers. :D

1999 = There are no "experts" in fantasy football... article posted on the Huddle, then taken down with the Fox merger. (Oh, the irony of it all) LOL

Boy, a lot of those things Blitz mentioned ring a bell, but they could because I've read conversations about them...  I think I've been here since about 1998, 1999 or 2000, but I can't remember.  I was around for at least a couple of the free years.

Joined in June 98.  Have no idea whether I ever made it to the Hall of Fame, I suspect I would have remembered if I had. I'm glad to see I haven't been forgotten.  I passed some very very fun hours typing into this particular bit bucket.  Arguing with Big Red, staging the great debate (and losing), winning the first Death Pool.

Been a long time since I posted here.  I went with a lot of the other oldtimers to the Sidelines, as a sort of protest against going commercial, but I seem to remember we couldn't quite recapture the magic.  The old Huddle had just the right size, the Sidelines was too small of a sandbox.  I suspect the Huddle might have grown too large now, just taking a cruise around.  Might not have the same gestalt.

Thought I might check in and see who's still around.  Might even hang out for a while if it seems entertaining enough.  Don't play Fantasy Football anymore, just couldn't stand being let down week after week.  But then, the football was only the starting point for the antics on this site back then.

Brainy my man, how's it hanging.

Brainy was the original electronics expert on the Huddle.

Glad you came back for a visit.

Riffraff (the orginal Mystery Huddler host)

I guess technically Dorey was the first host. He had a Hall of Fame picture people guessed at.

I was the brain child behind the beloved contest we have all come to love.

I needed someone to host "me" since I was the first Mystery Huddler.

Dorey was the right guy for the job.

I took it from there as host.

WaKCo showed up unannounced about 6 months ago; now Brainy Smurf?

Next thing you know, Fury or Posty will start in with their well-mannered banter.
