CaptainHook
With 14 takeaways over their past three games, the Indianapolis Colts have run their season total to 29, No. 1 in the NFL. Feed the beast: The Colts' top-ranked offense has scored 55 points off turnovers over those three games. "You've got to get (the offense) on the field," said defensive end Raheem Brock, who accounted for one of four fumble recoveries Thursday during the Colts' 41-9 victory at Detroit. The Colts have exceeded 29 takeaways (13 interceptions and 16 fumble recoveries) only once in their past 11 full seasons. That was last year, when they had 30. Their current pace projects to 42 takeaways, which would be the most since 45 in 1987. At plus-17, they also lead the league in takeaway-giveaway differential. At their current rate, the Colts would finish plus-25, a total exceeded only twice in the club's 52 years. They were plus-30 in 1958 and plus-26 in 1959. They were minus-13 as recently as 2001, the year before Tony Dungy arrived as coach. Over the past three games, they have been able to play the game he coaches: Get the lead, turn the pass rush loose and go ball-hawking. "You get the quarterback flustered and keep him running around, it makes our job and (the line's) job easier," cornerback Nick Harper said. "Pressure is the key to everything." link
