giantsfan
Ankle surgery. Pin placed in. Can't run for 5 weeks. Outside shot he's back if the Eagles make the bowl, but most likely done for the year.

giantsfan
Know it was fibula but heard surgery was needed on ankle. At any rate without TO how awful will the SB be. The Eagles were the NFC's only hope. Now even if they get there, and they still should, they have no shot against Pitt or NE with TO out. giantsfan
A specialist in Baltimore says he will need surgery for both bones in his ankle which "widened" during the injury. The surgery is schedlued for Wednesday. Huddle Up: Head Trainer Rick Burkholder said that Owens will have a screw inserted into his ankle and that best case scenario he will be available to start running at five weeks. There is an outside chance that Owens "could play some role" in the Super Bowl in seven weeks Thought they said ankle

Hugh 0ne
Well, there goes any shot at the NFC championship. That's a killer. The Eagles will be a shell of themselves on offense now, and their defense is pretty injury riddled as well. Wow, I can't believe the Vikes are going to the Super Bowl. Marauders11
it is the ankle 622740 the fracture is higher up on his calf- the fibula- any way about semantics- WHO CARES. F##$%# Bottom line is not good news for The Eagles or T.O.

The Eagles were the NFC's only hope. To me what it does is KILL the SB. The Eagles were the ONLY team that could compete with Pitt or NE. Now without TO they have no chance against Pitt or NE. And you know what from the stand point of wanting a good game it stinks. In the NFC I still think Philly is good enough to win at home, but I guess you can say maybe Atl can win in Philly but I don't see it. Still think Philly is by a good deal the best team in the NFC especially at home.
Egret
This makes the NFC much more of a crapshoot. If Philly loses homefield advantage to Atlanta, I don't think they go to the Superbowl. If they play a team that can run the ball before the championship game, they could lose that too.

I would give the nod to Vick and the Falcons to go to the show.

CaptainHook
Unbelievably bad news for the Eagles. We all know how those "best case scenario for his return" usually work out. I'd say the NFC is wide open again.

DMD
If it makes the Eagle fans feel any better, Reid said that if Owens did play in the Super Bowl and caught his 15th TD for the year that he would wear the tights. Maybe not a lot of consolation there though...

TO's phantom TD was the difference. As a Vikings fan, I can honestly say that the Vikes pretty much suck. That being said, the Eagles without TO are far less imposing to anyone they will face. Sorry, but Todd Pinkston ain't gonna scare nobody. IMO, the Eagles are still a very good football team, but not even close to what they were. They are beatable by anyone in the NFC now imo, which clearly wasn't the case with TO in the lineup. They can still win the NFC Championship, but I like their chances a lot less now. I just can't see Atl who I think is over rated, GB who plays NO D, or Minny who loses pretty much every game after Thanksgiving especially outside, winning in Philly. Is it more likely now without TO of course, but I still think Philly is the favorite no doubt.

And look at the last 3 years when they lost the title game at home so we all know it can be done. But I thought all year that the NFC was a JOKE other than the Eagles and that the Eagles were by 20 miles the best NFC team. Now even without TO I think they are still the best just not by 20 miles anymore. But, and to me this is the point, the ONLY NFC team that could play with NE or Pitt was Philly. Now with TO out NO NFC team can play with them which to me ruins the SB. That is hard to argue no matter how you feel I think.
Egret
They already clinched homefield throughout. 622770 Nevermind... They would have to load up on Duckett to get by the Eagles. I wouldn't lay any money on the Eagles going to the SuperBowl, but I can't pick who else could go.
