Steelers - Giants Poem

On a Saturday afternoon from close to the Big Apple,

The Steelers and Giants were set and ready to grapple;

The Steelers were given a 10 and ½ point spread;

Many had felt that the Giants were a team left for dead;

 

This was an opportunity that the Giants didn’t want to squander,

And they proved it right away, with a touchdown return from Ponder;

The Steelers weren’t starting this game off like anyone expected;

Big Ben goes back to pass and the ball is intercepted;

 

After three plays, the Giants punted away,

The Steelers were still waiting for someone to make a play;

Big Ben completes a 34 yarder to Antwaan Randle-El,

The Steelers finally were looking to answer the bell ;

 

The Steelers are in the red zone, but something still remains,

Ranle-El throws a shovel pass, touchdown Verron Haynes;

After another long return, the Steelers defense started to look leaky,

As they began to give up big chunks of yards to the Giants running back Tiki;

 

Young Eli has gotten off to a start that has certainly been rocky,

But he throws a perfect pass, touchdown Jeremy Shockey;

The Giants pulled in front fourteen to seven,

The Steelers needed their offense to get geared up and revin’;

 

Another long pass to El produced success to a certain degree,

The Steelers didn’t get seven, but Jeff Reed got them three;

The Giants had to punt, and the Steelers got the ball back,

Big Ben was leading an impressive offensive attack;

 

Big Ben lets go a long one and out of the sky it fell,

Right into the waiting arms of a streaking Randle-El;

The Steelers take the lead, as they now are up by four,

And a couple of drives later, Reed added three to the score;

 

Twenty to Fourteen Steelers, was the score at the half,

The Steelers were still in danger of a monumental gaffe;

The Giants came out to show that they were still here to play,

Big Ben throws a pick when he should have thrown it away;

 

The Giants got the ball back and Eli was getting on a roll,

Their all the way to the 4 yard line Giants ball 1st and goal;

But the Steel curtain stood strong, anyone would have to agree;

As Tiki gets knocked backwards and the Giants settle for three;

 

But the Steelers continued to answer, with the poise that they’ve shown,

As the Bus led the offense to another field goal of their own;

The Steelers were up by 6, but the Giants were not done,

As Eli throws to Rivers for a touchdown from the one;

 

But Big Ben and the Bus got the Steelers back in the lead,

As the offense went down the field and got a field goal from Jeff Reed;

Before this game all Eli could throw were picks,

But he brought the Giants back, and Tiki ran in for six;

 

The Giants led by four and the clock was ticking down,

There were several nervous people watching in Steeler town;

But the rookie continues to show that on him we can depend,

After four straight completions the Giant D was starting to bend;

 

1st and goal Steelers as the Giants tried to adjust,

But there just was no stopping our big and burly Bus;

The Bus is in the endzone, but the game was not done,

Their was plenty of time remaining before the final gun;

 

Eli throws the ball up into the air that was kind of chilly,

And it ends up in the hands of the Steelers old man Willie;

The Steelers pick up the first down, and the crowd screams with joy,

As Myrone Cope lets out a great big “Triple Yoi”;

 

It sure was a tough one, but this team keeps getting wins,

And two days later, we got an early present from the Fins;

And now on to the Ravens, where we can get ourselves homefield,

And get some rest so that our injured players can get healed;

 

A win this week, would make the fans stand up and shout,

Not only would we have homefield but we will have knocked the Ratbirds out;

So get down to Heinz and make sure they can hear you,

Ravens fans get ready, because this teams does not fear you;

 

The Steelers get their 13th win and continue on their roll,

And we’ve got a feeling, their going to the Super Bowl;

Well, sorry to say, but that is all I have for now,

As I go back to waving my awsome, terrible towel;
