Beaumont
Some of you may know that the Confusion league (16 team, IDP dynasty league w/ 35 man roster and 90 year sal cap) is wrapping up its auction. I chose to invest heavily in vets and sit out the rookie draft (i.e., I saved no dough). I for practical purposes am done ... I would love any input available. This was my first shot at IDP. Thanks! Here is my D and what I plan to do with them: 19. DL S. Rice 20. L. Little 21. D. Howard 22. R. Coleman 23. LB Al Wilson 24. M. Greenwood 25. J. Trotter 26. L. Foote 27. Lemar Marshall 28. C. Watson 29. O. Huff 30. DB A. Archuleta 31. B. Sanders 32. S. Jones 33. K. Lucas 34. Deion Grant 35. D. Bly Others on my roster as of now: DL: R. Sims LB: B. Short M. Stewart S. Williams DB: B. Jue I. Brashir D. Carpenter K. Davis Those I plan to place on Practice Squad: C. Bockwoldt G. Hayes Dontarrious Thomas E.J. Henderson Demorrio Williams Tank Williams
Beaumont
Ouch Al Wilson is your #1 LB, and Bob Sanders is probably your best DB if he can stay healthy. That isnt what you want as your #1 IDP point producers. Rice is aging and has the occasional big game but also has the goose eggs. Little in 03 was a beast and 04 very average. Howard is going to be playing inside more on passing downs, not what you want from a sack artist. You have nice #2 AND #3 Lbs with Trotter and Watson or DT. Henderson looks like the odd man out in Minny until Cowart is put aware to the pasture. Archuletta is about 2 yrs past his prime and could be moved to FS, Jones is coming off a season ending injury but could be huge. You have alot of question marks. Personally Id like to see Sanders, Little, Rice, and Jones as depth, not needed starters. Overall, not terrible, but not what I would have wanted just coming out of a draft. 810441[/snapback] Hmmmm ... not a good review. Oh well, thanks for the input! Mebbe some of my high risk/high reward choices like Jones and Greenwood will pan out ...

gilthorp
The one name that sticks out on that LB group that may have a breakout year is Watson. I know he battled injuries a lot of last year, and shows a ton of promise. Although I had Archuleta last year, it just appears that the St. Louis defense is a mess with him in the scheme...there is never a consistent way that they use him, and he wears down as the season progresses. Porter is Farriors coat carrier, Ruff is on the outside, as are Babin and Dansby. Harris is OLB too. I think the DB's look ok, as long as Smoot and Jones work out, but Taylor is being an idiot, with this hold out. I think the LB corp is a group of #3's, without any clear #1 or 2's. I like Udezi, but after that..... although DL's with the exception of 5 or 6, are not very big or imprortant point generators.

It was an auction draft, and I wasn't willing to pay the outrageous prices for the MLB. To give you an idea, most of my LB's cost 1/3 of what the MLB's were going for, so they were more bang for my buck. I disagree with you on the DL. Alex Brown has been top 10-15 the last two years. Will Smith should have a pretty good year, otherwise, why were the Saints willing to trade (crap I forgot the guys name).

Smith will be a good player, but it has nothing to do with Howard's play.

DJ is your brightest star and there is a chance he winds up on the Strong Side ...Niko seems to be the starter in Sea for now but only time will tell if he is going to get it done...Something inside me says that mr. sharper could spend some time in the middle even though i havent heard anything to warrant that gut feeling...AT DL strahan is getting OLD , I think Kerney had a career year last yr...and well to be honest the DL pos is pretty similar to that of TE...as for your DBs they are deep but without any true stud stand out imo...and if there is one position that you can get a top 20 player off of waivers in season it would be the DB position.... sorry

Ray, Donnie will anchor this D for at least 2 yrs, but call me crazy, but I think Urlacher is over-rated. His next healthy season will be his first in 3 - 4 yrs and though hes solid when he plays, he gets hurt during games and leaves, costing you even when he plays, at time. The DBs here are basically waiver wire guys, nothing you want to count on each week. But the DB position is the easiest to find a jewel on that wire during the season. Not bad, but Wings is by far superior, on defense anyway, and I d take Beaumonts D over this one as well. Edited May 12, 2005 by Sgt. KevinL
As long as we're posting our ConFusion D's I will lay mine out for review. This is my first IDP league and Darin helped me greatly in the beginning, until he joined the league himself. (The league is just finishing a slow auction, so if the teams look like they are built differently that is why). We start 8 IDP, min 2 max 3 at each spot. Probable starters in bold. Obviously I have way too many bench players and will end up cutting / trading many of them. I do feel, though, that the WR position is hard to predict and I was comfortable spending money elsewhere. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my squad. You must be, too, you've got some really solid offensive players.
