keggerz
interesting...the first DEF players went in the 3rd/4th rounds...Keg what was your thinking here rather than say a RB or WR? Not being critical just wondering your strategy??? 813755 It will be in my sumation of the draft but lets just say I grabbed the #1 & #2 LBs on my board(and probably most peoples boards)...I felt the value on the RBs and WRs wasnt to my liking and I KNEW that by grabbing those 2 LBs I would be able to start a mini run or so on the Def side thus letting me nab my targeted Off Players next pass or 2...the 11/12 spot is a tough one(especially if you grab a WR) I felt that RB was deep enough to warrant waiting...For those that want to ck you can see that DeShaun Foster was tearing it up last yr prior to his injury...yeah there is an injury history but the value he gives with his upsideI think the LBs will offset any probs i could face at the #2 RB spot...suggs IS the STARTER and I expect he will have some carries vulchured but I still see a serviceable #3 with #2 upside....My WRs IMO are going to be a strength....RMoss is Randy Moss and the Def in Oak will more then allow Randy to have a Great Yr this yr....Steve Smith is a slight injury risk but he was a delhomme favorite pre injury and I have no qualms with him as my #2....Coles back to NY will make everyone quickly forget about last yr in Washington Edit: As for London Fletcher he has been a model of consistency and I think the Buff Off struggles this yr especially early on and I love a solid performing vet like fletcher who should also be a top 10 LB(I did consider will witherspoon for a second over fletcher) If you want to know what I think of my team vs the others all i will say is there is alot of draft left and there are still some phenomenal values out there....sarge was/is in great position to get Nice OFFENSIVE players and he will be able to snap up some of the great LB values that are still out there...I loved sarges Antonio Pierce and Abraham picks Keg is the front runner for best roster assembled by a completely intoxicated trogladyte... 813756 f u © k t @ r d go feed your sheep Edited May 14, 2005 by keggerz

Not being critical just wondering your strategy??? 813755 I know this seems unconventional to some, however, the person who selected defensive players early in the Dynasty Warz II draft ended up with the best record. He even started taking them off the board earlier. There were also a couple of defensive "gurus" from the FBG side who put off drafting defense for the longest time(I guess they figured they could make it up with their vast knowledge on the D side). However, niether one sniffed .500 I'm not sure when the perfect time is to start selecting defense. It really varies with every draft. I definitely don't think you want to miss the boat on getting some of the top defensive players. They consistently score lots of points. Rovers
I'm surprised no one but keg has called me out on the 1.3 Manning pick. I still think he outscores a second tier QB by 75 points, minimum. I did wait until the tenth round for my bye week RB, something I'd never do in a non-IDP league. The fact that this is an IDP mock made the Manning choice easier. I knew some RB's would stull be there, and while there is great disparity in the rankings I've seen for C Martin and Jordan, I think they should be solid. Vilma might look like I jumped (known Jets homer) at 4.10, he was just a rookie last year. I think he improves both on the field and as a FF stud LB. Hartwell now an MLB in a 4-3 should do pretty well, it's supposedly his natural position. I do wish I had taken Staley over Branch in the ninth round, but in a PPR, Faulk should be a servicable bye week RB in the tenth round. I loved that Santana Moss pick by keg in the first round though. BRILLIANT!
Turf Boy
I waited 2 rounds longer than anyone to draft my first defnesive player, pick 8.8. Im not sure it cost me a thing in talent or in consistency. Are my 2 Lbs thus far big name players, no. But both play MLB for teams that will be on the field a ton, and having the ball run down their throat at the end of games. It's all about value. You feel getting LBs like Pierce & Clark in rounds 8 & 10 were better value than picking one of the first LBs. I have no doubt you got better value than some LBs taken a couple rounds earlier. Picking Abraham cost you nothing in talent, but, consistency could be a question mark. Gotta love IDP drafts! Multiples of the strategy in normal drafts. Many ways to go & still hard to say what the best way is.....I'm pretty sure waiting 10 or so rounds before taking a defensive player is too long. Nobody did that here, but, we've seen it before. I was just saying from what we've experienced, a team has done quite well taking defensive players early....I'm sure you remember the guy who's no longer with us I was making the point that Keg might have a good strategy too. Nothing wrong with starting three 250 - 300 point LBs.

Turf Boy
Exactly. Keg has a excellent team thus far, and his strategy has worked well for him. I also took Abraham in round 9, and he is a high risk / reward player. If hes healthy for a full season he could be the best DL in the league. If hes not, I didnt risk losing a top pick, on him that cost me somewhere else. 813964 I agree 100%, Abraham could be a monster. If you don't want to spend an early pick on a Peppers or Grant.....Abraham's a great gamble to take.
digitaldan21
Well, I haven't chimed in much, so here's my view of how it's gone so far..... Tatum Bell should only go here if you live in Denver, and don't know much about FF. I like Urlacher, just not right there, too early. Do you live in Denver or Chicago? Warrick Dunn is an OK pick, but Shockey hasn't done anything in the last few years to be considered a top performing TE. Did you draft him because you have a cool poster of him in your room, because you can't live in NYC too. The only reason to take Briggs is to hedge your bet if Urlacher goes down, so you have to believe Urlacher's going to get hurt to draft Briggs here, but then why draft Urlacher? 'Chicken or the egg' I guess. Mike Vick at 9.01, if he stays healthy, he's a bargain, but if he gets a herpes outbreak during the season, you may want to look into the side effects of Valtrex. Los Gigantes
Lance Briggs 2004: 9 games with Urlacher 14.44 points per game 7 games without 14.2 points per game. I'm quite happy playing both. The bears will be horrile next year, and there are a ton of tackles to go around. As for Urlacher's injury probls, all indidcations are he is finally healed. He wasn't injured 3 separate times last year, he kept agrvating the same injury because he tried to rush back. The off season has given him the time to heal, and he is no more likely thananyone else to miss time this year. He's only a few years removed from being the consensus 1st or 2nd LB. He is still just as talented, and if anything has a better scheme, designed to make use of his talents. As for Shockey, the giants have improved the Oline, plan on using him more in the passing game, and burress will take some of the attention away. I watch the giants very closely, and think Shockey is ready for a career year, and will be leaned on heavily by the young qb. I am not a believer in clarett. Shanny drafted him for his upside, and because they needed depth at rb after losing droughns. Shanny will play the back that gives his team the best chance to win, and that is bell. At 4.12, a back with a very good chance to be the year long starter in Denver is a great value pick. Bell was drafted earlier than clarett, if you buy shanny not wanting tolook like an idiot, he wants bell to succeed too.
