Draft Cheat Sheets

I think I should add Squeegie.....DW and Fusion both award 2 points per tackle. PnH and PnHII only scores 1 pt per tackle. So while these are good gauges...taking a defensive player in our first couple rounds is probably on the crazy side. :D

Not looking for draft position, but rather draft order so when I do draft one, I know who to take first. :D

  • 3 weeks later...

Derrick Johnson (LB, KC) – Though it’s difficult to rate rookies prior to training camp, DJ MUST have a huge impact for the Chiefs in ’05.

David Pollack (DE/LB, CIN) – Don’t be surprised if Pollack explodes in September but wears down in November. The most instinctive football player in the draft.

Thomas Davis (LB, Car) – A safety at Georgia, Davis is a vicious tackler that will have an early impact in Carolina on a fast LB corps

.

Odell Thurman (LB, CIN) – An oversight left off the original rankings, Thurman has drawn praise from Head Coach Marvin Lewis in mini-camps.

DeMarcus Ware (DE, Dal) – Rookie pass rushers make immediate impacts every season, but Ware will have to be stout at the point of attack to play for The Tuna.

Carlos Rogers (CB, Was) – Forecasting rookie cornerbacks in terms of fantasy value, in May, is a crapshoot at best, but Rogers joins a solid defense and should see plenty of action opposite Shawn Springs.

Antrel Rolle (CB, Ari) – Has the pedigree, and Head Coach Denny Green isn't afraid to throw the rookies into the mix early. Slight upgrade as he’ll certainly receive quality playing time.

Kirk Morrison (LB, Oak) – Can bring a toughness and run support skills to a depleted Raider LB corps.

Matt Roth (DE, Mia) – Vastly underrated player. Look for a strong rookie season from the madman from Iowa.

Adam Jones (CB, Ten) – I’d rate Pac-Man behind Rogers and Rolle as a player, though he should be a playmaker on the perimeter in due time.

Darryl Blackstock (LB, Ari) – A 3rd round sleeper that will look to make an impact as an edge rusher in the desert.

Lofa Tatupu (LB, Sea) – Some consider the USC standout a bit of a reach selection, but the Seahawks need young playmakers along the front seven.

Shawne Merriman (DE, SD) – Maybe I watched the wrong games, but Merriman looked ordinary at times last season, however, he has a great situation in San Diego.

Channing Crowder (LB, Mia) – Shoots up the list if he's half as good as he thinks he is, or if the city of Miami bans all nightclubs for 2005.

Kevin Burnett (LB, Dal) – Constant motor and has the size Bill Parcells craves for the position.

Marlin Jackson (CB, Ind) – Destined for a back-up role in early ’05, Jackson has enough talent to make an impact as the season progresses. Has been impressive in camp, this might be too low. Stay tuned.

Josh Bullocks (S, NO) – He'll go get the ball and could start for New Orleans in a puzzling secondary.

Jerome Carter (S, Stl) – A hitter, and should have a chance to make an impact in a shaky Rams secondary. Slight demotion behind Bullocks do to increased competition in St. Louis.

Chris Canty (DE, Dal) – Possible 4th round steal that battled injuries late in his college career but could be a terror off the edge.

Fabian Washington (CB, Oak) – One of the fastest players in the draft, now let's see what happens when he's blocked.

Vincent Burns (DE, Ind) – Too many situational pass rushers already in Indy, but "Sweet Pea" could make a push.

Marcus Spears (DE, Dal) – Dallas is building a strong DL rotation for the future, and Spears and Canty will be in direct competition in ’05.

Travis Johnson (DT, Hou)– A good player at a low-scoring fantasy position, especially for rookies.

Erasmus James (DE, Min)– A suddenly deep Minnesota D-Line is a boon for Vikings fans, if not fantasy owners.

Ryan Claridge (LB, NE) – Well, you know he'll be coached. 5th round selection at a need position in New England.

Michael Boley (LB, Atl) – Active, quick and undersized. Could make an impact alongside Hartwell and Brooking.

Brady Poppinga (LB, GB) – Moved to LB from DL in his senior season. Keep an eye on him early in camp.

Corey Webster (CB, NYG) – I'm a fan of his talent, but he has tough competition in Will Peterson and Will Allen in '05.

Justin Miller (CB, NYJ) – Another DB who will go get the ball in the air, and is a dangerous return man. Competitive position in the Meadowlands.

Antajj Hawthorne (DT, Oak) – At least until the next drug test. A first round talent drafted in the sixth.

Mike Patterson (DT, Phi) – Nothing like throwing in a bonus pick due to sheer stubbornness. The more I think about the Eagles defense, the more I realize he’ll be a situational player as a rookie
