College Fantasy Football League

My local fantasy league has been running since around 1994. It is a very strong league and it is very well organized with very dedicated owners. Several of us from that league are starting a college fantasy football league. We are looking for a few more teams to get started.

The rules for the league are located here: http://forums.thehuddle.com/index.php?showtopic=291807

We will use USports as our hosting site. It is located here: http://usports.athlonsports.com

We will use our Huddle forum as our message board.

Please let me know via PM or this thread if you are interested in joining. We are looking for serious owners who will remain dedicated, hopefully for years to come.

Here is some info and some highlights from the rules:

Cost = $100 (First year price until we get the hang of it. We will discuss future price after the first year. IT IS LIKELY TO INCREASE)

Teams = 10

Player Pool = Entire FBS (All D-1 Schools): I chose to go this way, because choosing players from the MAC, Mountain West, etc.

can be a lot of fun, since they play throughout the week. It will give us something to watch.

League Type = Head to Head, Keeper League (Same keeper rules as our Knights League: 4 or 5 keepers after 1st Season)

Schedule = Regular Season Week 1 to Week 11. Playoffs begin Week 12. Championship will be Week 13.

Draft = Online, date to be determined (Needs to be by September 3rd)

Website = https://usports.athlonsports.com/ (I've already setup a Knights League and will send you guys invites when we are ready

to start. When you get the invite, you will pay the team feel of $11.99)

Article II. Entry Fee

The entry is $100. A $50 deposit or more is due at the end of the previous season to ensure your spot for the next season. The balance must be paid by draft day (no exceptions).

Article IV. Scoring

We use a decimal scoring system. Scores are calculated on the website. If there is a visible error on the site, manual calculation will occur. All scores on the website are official for the week once the Saturday games start the following week.

Player scoring:

QB/RB/WR/TE

0.5 points per reception

0.01 point for every 1 yard rushing and receiving

0.04 point for every yard passing

-1.0 point for fumble lost

-2.0 points for interceptions

2.0 points for ever player involved in a 2 point conversion (passing, rushing, or receiving)

6.0 points for every rushing or receiving touchdown

4.0 points for every passing touchdown

Kicking: 3.0 points for a successful field goal

1.0 point for an extra point

Defense / ST’s: 1 point per sack

1 point per fumble recovery

2 points per interception

2 points for a safety

6 points for a defensive or special teams touchdown

Note: A play is not considered a special teams play until change of possession has occurred.

(Example: A team lines up for a FG and the kicker runs in a TD on a fake FG. This would not be a D/ST TD since there was no change of possession.)

10 points for 0 points allowed

7 points for 2-6 points allowed

5 points for 7-10 points allowed

3 points for 11-13 points allowed

2 points for 14-21 points allowed

1 point for 22-28 points allowed

0 points for 29-34 points allowed

-3 points for 35+ points allowe

Note: Points allowed are only points allowed by the defense or special teams. Points giving up by your D/ST’s offense will not count in that number.

(Example: The Steelers beat the Ravens 17-7 but the Ravens lone score came on an interception return. The Steelers D/ST would be credited with 0 points allowed.)

Article V. Rosters / Keepers / Lineup

The KCFFL is a keeper league. Each team must name 4 players for the next season. You have an option to keep 5 players which would forfeit your 1st round pick in the upcoming draft. In essence, every team will have 5 roster spots filled after the first round of the draft. Keepers are to be named 2 weeks prior to the upcoming draft.

There is no set roster in the KCFFL. (Example: A team could carry 10 RB’s and 3 WR’s or a team could carry 10 WR’s and 3 RB’s.) A team’s roster will be made up of their keepers and by the players they acquire in the draft. The number of players on a team’s roster could be affected by the number of draft picks a team has through trading (see article VI). A player is locked into a team’s lineup when that player’s game begins that week. Each team is required to start a set lineup each week which consists of the following:

2 QB's

3 RB’s

3 WR’s

1 Flex (RB/WR/TE)

1 TE

1 K

1 D/ST

A starter is locked into a lineup at kickoff of their game. (Example, you have Evan Royster and Stephon Green, both PSU running backs and Royster is questionable, and their game is at 4:00PM Saturday or later. As long as you have your starter in prior to kickoff of the 4:00 game, you can wait until that point to pick that starter)

Article XIII. Prizes

The prizes are as follows: $10 – Weekly high score (weeks 1-12)

$130 – Team with the most total points (regular season)

$50 – Teams that make playoffs but not the fantasy bowl

$200 – Runner up

$500 – Fantasy Champion

Hey camicom,

I really urge you to NOT post your phone number on a message board. It would be safer to simply pm your phone number to menudo.

That's right, and when some guy named Steve calls you, don't believe him when he tells you you've been selected to receive a free massage and a ticket to a Leonard Cohen concert.

We've got 8 teams for our initial season. Draft is tonight. There are cheatsheets out there, but, this is new to all of us. Should be interesting. It is a completely different ballgame than NFL fantasy leagues, that's for sure, but, I'm excited to see how it goes. It will give me some interest in a Wednesday night Houston vs. UTEP game.

  • 4 weeks later...

For anyone who has considered joining or starting a college league, I would suggest pulling the trigger. We started our league this year and it is an absolute blast. I bought the college package and Saturday's are like Sunday's now. Also, it gives you more reason to watch the Wed./Thur./Fri. games and makes you more aware of players from the smaller D1 schools. Everyone in our league is having a blast, I highly recommend it to all college football fans.
