  1. If we taske a QB with that high pick I will pull my hair out. we do not need a QB right now. Jason Smith would be the guy for us to grab and then we can take a QB in the 2nd round and go with the guys we have and sign someone. we won't be going from 0-16 to a winning record despite what the Dolphins did a few years back. the Dolphins 1-15 team had quite a bit more talent than us.This being said...I already know in my heart they will take is what my Lions do.

And might I add.... .

  2. All I know is Sabathia,Burnett,Wang,Pettite is gonna make 1 heck of a starting rotation.Yanks are gonna be tough this year and IMO have just passed up the Red Sox as the best team in the A.L.

Matter of fact both New York teams upgraded big time. the Mets add Francisco Rodriguez AND J.J. Putz for their bullpen. they add another starter and we could see a all New York WS next year.

  3. Not a reasonable argument IMO. We're talking about a 14 year old kid. 14 year old kids are supposed to get excited from time to time. I would be willing to bet money that Barry Sanders celebrated his butt off at 14 as well. He isn't old enough to have learned anything about respect for the game.

I was not dogging the kid Seahawk..just noticing.

  4. Barry was more quick than fast. he got ran down many many times on my Lions. it was his side to side movement that made him so special. if the kid has half the footwork his dad had we will be seeing him in the pros.

1 thing I noticed brother Menudo is he celebrated more on that run than Barry did in his whole career.interested in watching him get older and seeing how he pans out as that was a fine run.

  5. Agreed about Vince. He may have the legs to be a playmaker in the NFL, but his inability to overcome adversity ("The fans are booing me!") is a recipe for disaster in the NFL. I also strongly disagree that Fisher's system is the problem. Vince is pretty much a carbon-copy of a young Steve McNair (good scrambler/playmaker, but unpolished passer), and it was Fisher's system that allowed for McNair to develop into an MVP-caliber QB. The current Titans team is also very similar in makeup to the '99 team that went to the SB (strong defense and offensive emphasis on running the ball). Hell, I can't think of a single better offensive system for Vince than Fisher's.

As for Steve Young, you can't teach the accuracy, scrambling ability, or heart that he had. I'm pretty sure that, like Rich Gannon, he would've eventually been very successful somewhere.

Speaking of Steve Young he is a great example of how a system can make or break a guy. Young went from a 8 TD-13 INT season in 1986 to a 10 touchdown 0 interception season coming in for Montana in 1987. matter of fact the 9'ers started Deberg,Montana,Young and then Garcia with all having record breaking seasons of some sort. football is the ultimate system game which is what makes it so fun to me. noone can do what they do without the coaches and teammates.

  6. The guy who didn't draft or use the waiver wire as well so his team wasn't deep and therefor had less quality players on the bench?

I see the efficiency rating thing get brought up as some testimony to how good you are but it is really a very inaccurate barometer. In the league I'm speak of, I have perhaps the best team I've ever had. The highest pick I had that didn't pan out was Robert Meachem at pick 11, I was able to parlay one of my late round RB picks into the epitome of buy low/sell high to get Peyton Manning and am now totally stacked at every position. Well, now that McNabb has hit the skids, I only have one good QB, oh well. Not saying this to brag, because my other team is being held together with tape and glue. None the less, I have the highest total points scored but also have a rather middle of the road % of total possible because every week I've got guys going off that I didn't start.

Week before last, when we got our report, it told me that I shouldn't have started Thomas Jones because he only got me 17.9 pts. Turns out, I should have had Peyton Hillis going instead. BFD, I dropped like 150, which is about as high as anyone has scored all season.

So, why should a team like mine be penalized?

This is why I do not like going with efficiency rating also. the best teams will get penalized for having such a good bench.

  7. I installed a rule for play-off seedings in a league I formed this year and am going to propose it to my other one for next year. In both leagues, we have a 4 team play-off. It's a pick your poison rule. That is, the 1st seed gets to pick which of the other play-off teams he wants for his semi-final matchup. That would end any silliness like this as well as provide a true reward for the #1 overall seed.

I like this rule Detlef. it definately helps with the fairness of a league.

  8. receivers have always dropped McNabb's passes, but he has no touch and sometimes throws a bullet screen pass....everything has to be a bullet by him it seems and he rarely puts touch on the ball...

Agreed. he rarely ever gives his recievers the ball in route. his passes at his RB's feet also drive me crazy sometimes.

  9. Who would you rather face?

    A Rodgers vs PHI #5 pass D

    C Portis @ BAL #4 run D

    B Westbrooke @ NYG #6 run D #8pass D

    S Moss @ BAL #3 pass D

    Team 2:

Brees vs ATL #23 pass D

    C Johnson vs CLE #27 run D

    M Turner @ NO #17 run D

    B Marshall vs KC #28 pass D

    Team 3:

Romo at Pit #1 pass D

Forte vs Jax #18 run D

Gore vs NYJ #3 rush D

Colston vs ATL #23 pass D

So you are trying to stay away from team 2 I would guess. and understandable with those matchups.

It does make sense. if the playoff race is over I now completely understand your issue.

  10. That's not the point

The point is, they do it and it does affect other teams trying to get into the playoffs.

And I told you the reasoning behind it.

If a team in the NFL lost on purpose to help another team get into the playoffs I woud have a major problem with it is what I am saying.

  11. Does our Fake Game have more honor than the Real Game?

NFL teams rest players every season and it sometimes affects other team's playoff chances.

In reality it is a smart move that can actually save a player a injury. no injuries are saved in fantasy.

  12. Difference between Martin and Jones is that Curtis Martin had stong legs, Thomas Jones has strong arms. I've rarely seen Thomas Jones break a tackle. He goes down on first contact more than any starting NFL runningback I've ever seen.

Agreed. he also takes what the O-line gives him better than any back out there which will help him stay healthy and productive a little longer than most RB's. many backs will leave the automatic 4 yards his line gives in search for a few more yards which in many cases hurts the team and can get a back hurt. he reminds me of Emmitt Smith in that way.

  13. You got one right, although you spelled it wrong.

Correct answer: New England Patriots, Bill Belichick

Only team and head coach that are proven cheaters. Only ones. Wow, how embarrassing.

I don't think it's a big deal, but it obviously still chafes a lot of their fans. I guess I can understand that. It must suck knowing that your team can only succeed through cheating.

If you want to acknowlege your team's cheating, enter some lame defensive post below:

I am a Lions ( ) fan you silly Bastaducci. I am unbiased on what I am saying...and you? :D
