  1. Jamaica, Cancun, Bahammas?

    Does Jamaica, St. Marten, Grand Caymen, etc. have the same "don't drink the water" problems that Mexico has?

    We've been checking out the Sandals resorts---they seem to be ok. Most of the reviews are positive. One thing: is it necessary to book really far in advance? Also, is July an ok time to go to the tropics? When it says 'all inclusive" is it really that? All your food and drinks are free at the hotel? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to these things, so I'm looking to be educated.

    So the SO and I are planning a vacation for next year, and the theme is tropical. We are looking heavily at Jamaica, at one of the all inclusive resorts. Anyone been there recently? Looking for recommendations, advice, pricing, pros, cons. I've been checking out the travel sites and reading the reviews, but you can't get the kind of honesty like you can right here in the Tailgate!

    Awesome! My kids love the Guitar Hero game on the PS2. After playing the first two, I find it funny that they are now asking me to download groups like Van Halen and GNR to their Ipods. My plan might finally be working to turn them against all of today's retarded Hip Hop and Rap crap! ROCK ON!!

  7. Civil War enthusiasts

    Last week I was on a business trip to Frederick Maryland, and in my off time I was able to go visit the battlefied at Antitam, and also Harper's Ferry. Antitam was the site of the bloodiest battle during the Civil War, with over 23,000 Confederate and Union troops either killed or wounded. Interestingly, the battle of Gettysburg may never have happened if General McClellen (Union) had followed orders from President Lincoln and followed the retreating Confederate troops, led by General Lee, back accross the Potomac to finish them off. Instead, the conservative McClellen chose to rest his troops and resupply, giving Lee the chance to escape. Personally, I like visiting sites like these and getting a feel for the history and the strategies used in the war. I don't have a large table set up in my living room recreating battles with toy soldiers or anything like that, but this subject has always interested me. Anybody else out there enjoy this history? Where are some other good sites / battlefields to visit?
  8. Grilling on a porch with a screen

    I wouldn't do it. The fire hazard alone would make me not want to do it. You'd feel pretty bad if you set your whole house on fire just for the sake of cooking some ribs on the porch. Seriously, fires like this happen more often than you might think.

    Financially, and for the morale and welfare of the team, I would suspend Vick indefinately, with pay, until a decision is made in court. I think they will still have to pay him, because if by miracle he is found innocent and they had cut his pay, the Players Union would kill the team on that. For the team, I don't see how there is any way they go into training camp with Vick as the starter now. It would be an incredible waste of precious time and energy not to prepare Harrington for the season opener. I don't know all the details of his contract, but if it would hurt the team too much just to cut him outright, then I don't blame them for not cutting him right away. For the Falcons, this might actually be a blessing in disguise. Here is their opportunity to finally un-hitch their wagon from this underachiever.

    Do you think insurance companies cover this kind of injury or even death? And who the hell decides they need to use commercial grade fireworks? Thinning of the herd.

  15. Another lame law that most reaturants break

    This is very messed up, D. What kind of rules does a regular bar have to follow down there? Are they not allowed to serve food after a certain time? If a customer can go to a bar and get food and / or drink any time during their operating hours, (I'm not comparing your resturant to bar food--just using a bar as a hypothetical case) then this seems like a very unfair law that puts you at a competetive dissadvantage. Like you said, this situation only comes up about once a month, so while it's frustrating as hell, it's probably not hurting your customer base too much. FIGHT THE SYSTEM BROTHER!!
