I've got a bunch of picks in this draft, including three of the top six. Probably going to use the top two (1.02 and 1.05) unless I receive an offer I can't refuse, but any of the others are available. 1.06, 2.14, several 3rd's, etc. I've already received two very good offers for 1.06, but I'm not in a rush. Looking for the best deal available, which could be all cash, or a cash/pick/player combo. Ultimately, I'm looking to turn some of these picks into assets that will speed up my rebuild, so if you're looking for picks or in rebuild mode yourself, hit me up. Ironically, I tried their contest this year for the first time. Not the $150K payout, but a smaller one. I think the $150K version costs $200.... The one I did cost $50. Wasn't entirely sure I understood the strategy behind it, and it was just a few minutes before kickoff, so I picked the smaller one just to try it. Now that we're a couple of weeks into it, I actually like the format because it's a little different than the ones I've done on RTSports and FFPC (which are usually "pick X players from X teams" and ride them out). This NFFC one was something like.... WC Round - Pick 12 players from 12 different teams Div Round - Pick 12 players from the 8 remaining teams (max 2/team) Conf Round - Pick 12 players from the remaining 4 teams (3 per team) SB - Pick X players from each team (can't remember if it's 4 or 6?). The cool part is that you can sub out each week. Player's team loses, no big deal... You plug in somebody else. That said, there's a bonus for using the same player(s) consecutive weeks, so it serves you well to pick players who advance. A player picked in Week 1 gets double points in Week 2 (assuming you keep them in your lineup), triple in Week 3, etc. The only thing that I found kind of odd was the lineup requirements. I think it's 2QB, 3RB, 5WR/TE, a TMPK, and TMDST. Not a big deal... Just different that there's no TE required, I guess.

You can view the SPIT champions here. For whatever reason, though, that stops in 2017. There are at least two of us who have won it twice..... CN won in 2011 and 2018. I won in 2015 and 2019. I've never won the Smackbowl, however, nor have I taken home the coveted socks. The closest I've come is the wolf shirt.

Bump. Running this again this year. Old-school playoff contest on MFL... No PPR, no flex, no defense. Cost is $25. I believe this is the 25th season, if we go back to what was originally an 8-person contest on an Excel spreadsheet. Now, we're on MFL with around 90 participants last year. All entry $$ goes back to the winners. Pays out top 5 cumulative finishers, plus the top score for each week of the playoffs (small bonus for single-week high score). Invites have been sent to anyone who played last year or the year before. For anyone else, post here or PM me if you want a spot. *You must receive an invite to play. MFL won't allow you to join without one.

Yes and no. If it was all losing, I would have quit years ago. I look at it sort of like golf. It's that 10% of your shots that are really pretty good that keep you coming back, and knowing that the other 90% have the potential of being as good as that 10%. Most of us probably lose more than we win, not in terms of $$, but in terms of literally winning leagues. I've had years where I didn't win a single league (out of 10-20), which is super frustrating. I've had a couple of years where I won close to half of my leagues (still in that 10-20 range), which is unreal. I play for a variety of reasons, but having one of those unreal seasons is a big part of it for me. I don't want to win a league or two... I want to win 5 or 10. Maybe that's unrealistic, but it's similar to wanting to shoot in the 70's every time I tee it up (when a more realistic goal for me is probably mid to upper 80's). But, I've shot in the 70's once in my life, just like I had a season or two where I won WAY more than my share of leagues. That's what keeps me coming back.

I love dynasty leagues, but they're impacted by luck just as much as the others, unfortunately. It's just a big part of the game, regardless of format.

This funny game/hobby we share certainly has its ups and downs. What's hard is, while both are memorable, I think for a lot of us the "downs" stick in the backs of our minds more than the "ups" do. I'm sure I've won leagues as the 5- or 6-seed, but don't even recall for sure. Meanwhile, the times when you come up short as the top seed are hard to forget. I had too many shares of guys who either got hurt when it mattered (Hockenson, Sutton, etc.) or guys who just had really bad games in Week 16. Diggs, Adams, Mahomes, Kelce, Pacheco, Mixon, etc. Really hard to watch.

In one dynasty league, I have Bijan, Allgeier, Pitts, and Jonnu Smith. Things weren't so bad until Mark Andrews got hurt (he was my TE1). After that, it because a weekly nightmare of which Falcon(s) to start. Total crapshoot.

Yeah, it really felt like going for the win was a gutsy call, and maybe the right call, but only for as long as when they had the momentum. In other words, the big advantage of going for the win in that situation is that you've just scored, the defense is on their heels a bit, and they don't have a lot of time to prepare to defend what is essentially a 4th and 2. Once the first penalty happened, it felt like they were pushing it to go again. Not so much about the yardage difference as it was the momentum. Then, the third time, even though it was 3.5 yards closer, it just felt like they were pushing it too far. It felt like someone at the black jack table who should have cashed in their chips but waited a hand (or two) too long to do so. Cut your losses while you're ahead (or, in this case, while you still have the opportunity to tie and go into OT). On the other hand, that's the way Campbell has been all year. If he changes it (and settles for the XP), what does that tell the team? Not saying I agree, but I'm sure that's what he's thinking. It will be interesting to see if things change once they get into the playoffs. Will they remain in "full speed ahead" mode at all times, or will they proceed with caution, at least at times? DET certainly has to feel like they let one get away. Three INT's by Goff, and a failed 4th and goal in the first half. That game easily could have been theirs to win. On the other side, it feels like another game that Dallas won despite McCarthy, not because of him.

What a crock of crap. Russell had his best season in a few years. They actually had a shot at the playoffs. Longshot, but they had a shot.

Those were obviously very unusual circumstances where, in many cases, a split made the most sense.

That's what I was wondering. I don't know. It was like they thought we had plotted against everyone else all year and somehow increased our chances of winning by doing so. Which is laughable in any league, much less a 32-team league with virtually no waivers and very little trading. You're pretty much stuck with what you draft.

That's different. I've done that many times. But only against a bust card.

I've split one pot in my 30+ years of playing. The other owner proposed it to me in a league where we had very shallow rosters, nothing on the waiver wire, and my best player was doubtful to play in the championship. Needless to say, it was a no-brainer on paper, as I was a decided underdog under the circumstances. Long story short, someone in the league got wind of it and several league members were up in arms over what happened. Cries of collusion, not fair, sketchy doings, etc. Which was hilarious because the other guy and I didn't know each other at all and had made ZERO trades during the season (with each other or anybody else). There was absolutely no way we could have been doing anything sketchy, but people still didn't like the idea that we split the $$. I ended up leaving the league shortly thereafter, ironically because I found out that one or more of the commissioners were doing sketchy stuff themselves (blind email accounts that weren't as blind as everyone thought, etc.). I've never split anything since. Not because I think there's anything wrong with it, but it's just not worth the drama (and I'm usually pretty confident that I'm going to win, or at least have a fairly good shot, so why would I split?).

Yes. But the ref did them a favor by asking for clarification (since the proper terminology is to say 'we defer" not "we want defense."). He didn't need to do that, technically. But, the bigger point is that Alexander shouldn't have been out there in the first place. He invited himself, apparently, because he's from that area. Bottom line... I'm sure these teams make damn sure the captains understand the rules, so they don't botch the coin flip. Otherwise, it wouldn't take much for someone to word it wrong and screw their team. I'm sure Alexander isn't the only one who has no clue how it works (or, at least, doesn't understand how to verbalize the intention to defer).
